A few members have mentioned that they're getting errors in trying to connect and after logging in, using "New Posts."
The error may direct you to Register.com, or 500 Error message, or
Error
Couldn't find address for www.mercurymarauder.net: (http://www.mercurymarauder.net:)
There is nothing wrong with the MM.Net website. You can confirm that it isn't the MM.Net server if you're able to get to http://www.mercurycougar.net/ (http://www.mercurycougar.net/) or http://www.talonclub.com/ (http://www.talonclub.com/) which also reside on our server.
Try rebooting your DSL modem and or router (if applicable) - then try
flushing your DNS cache - you can see how to do that here
http://www.tech-faq.com/flush-dns.shtml (http://www.tech-faq.com/flush-dns.shtml) Also, delete your cookies and temporary Internet files. You may also reboot the computer.
AOL Users, this issue has been escalated to AOL. They've stated they are having an issue. It will take AOL up to 72 hours to fix this.
Jim Geary was able to work through this yesterday by flushing the DNS.

For some reason I have problems when using my laptop at home. I get the redirect when using www.mercurymarauder.net, but I get to the site when only typing mercurymarauder.net, without the www. I've cleared my cache and history. I haven't tried resetting the modem. No problems here at work though.

I was thinking about this issue and am wondering if it has the same root problem as USAFsniper's been dealing with in Korea? Could there be a new protocol for spam or security filter instituted by various servers that's causing the trouble?
There seem to be issues with AOL, and I know there's something going on with Verizon, because I can not get past my mail server's security which they've just instituted, to email our son & family in Ohio. When I went to another account/server, it works just fine, thanks to Mary's help.
I guess they're just trying to save us from ourselves. Too bad it always goes down to the lowest common denominator.

Have any modicications to the Server, or it's Firewall, Router...whatever, been performed in the last few days?

Doug confirmed we are not having issues. If you can easily go to the Cougar or Talon website, our server is fine.
If anyone else has problems, please chime in and we will direct our server admin try to figure it out.^^^
When this happens it also does it on the other site. It can be ok and suddenly appear and a couple of hours later its gone. Been going on for a couple of weeks now.

Since the problem is AOL related, until this is resolved, you can use Internet Explorer or Netscape.
Just Minimize your AOL Window, and Start IE. Then Browse as normal.

I'm on a Mac OS 10.3.9 using Netscape. I'll try resetting the router/modem and see what happens tonight.

Killjoy beat me to it. I used hate AOL's built-in browser and did just that. AOL has overly customized their browser until it has become so non-standard as to cause a lot of problems. This is not new, I have been off of AOL for probably five years or more and remember cussing it back then. I know you are car guys and not computer guys so ......
Below is an automotive representation of AOL's customized browser:

That should clear things up pretty well. :)

UPDATE!!!!
Our server guru has advised us that the problem should be fixed, please follow the above ^^^^^^instructions and it should clear it up.
it takes a while for your ISP to reset so try to be patient!! He also said that people need to move away from AOL if possible, it is now free and not worth the price

Uh... no. If your connected to the internet using AOL's network, it doesn't matter what browser or contraption you use to view web sites, email, etc, they are all going to have the same DNS problem. That's cuz requests for Domain Name Service (DNS translates the domain name "mysite.com" to the IP address -its location on the network- of the server) would still be using AOL's DNS servers. The only way to get around that would be to 1) have your own DNS server (that's what I did a couple years ago and it fixes many fubars at the ISP level) on your local network, or 2) change your network settings to use a DNS server other than your ISP.
AOL has had a problem with DNS from Day 1. Back in ye olde dial up days, they cached their DNS for up to a WEEK! That means if a domain's DNS changed for whatever reason, AOL users wouldn't know about it for days after the fact.

I had logon issues yesterday, albeit brief.
Flushed my dns, and was able to logon.
For the record, I am running WinXP SP2, IE6 and using bellsouth.net (DSL) as my provider.
Linksys 802.11G router and 3 machines networked. All w/same OS.
IMHO, AOL blows.

I have to agree Mike......however:
If you travel to places that do not have High Speed or Wireless, or you live in BFE, and cannot afford Satellite....it's the best solution

I couldn't get to the site for the last 2 days, tried rebooting, clearing cookies, resetting the modem, etc. nothing worked. Went for groceries today, came back now it works, strange.
I'm using IE7 and have a broadband connection, BTW.

Dont forget that AOL caches not just the DNS but also much of the internet - They are a HUGE caching proxy - You dont always see the most recent version of a web page - they save a copy on thier servers and show you their copy if its relatively recent ... It saves them bandwidth charges.
So if there is a short term DNS problem - Using AOL aggravates that because any updates or fixes will be slower to get through to AOL users.
In my opinion using the AOL browser is a mistake in so many ways.
