Axle's

Hey All,

I own one of the early MM's (built 6/02) Although I am fairly versed, I cannot tell whether its paranoia or ? that I am hearing out back while driving. I have heard axle bearings that were bad before on other vehicles but cannot really hear the same type of sound on my car. I dont want to have to replace the whole rear end.

Brian sent me the P/N for the axle kit and Ive sent off inquiries about the price. My questions are:

Does anyone have any upgraded axles and/or kits for sale?
Does 03-04 retrofit?
Aftermarket sources?

I did look through the searches and there were too many posts to go through. As usual, any/all help is appreciated.

Surprised no one has responded yet. Lots of beefed up axles available, the Mosers being the most talked about. I think if you check on Dennis Reinharts (Reinhart Automotive) vendor site, you'll find them there, ready to roll.

There is a thread from the Dealer about the 31 spline axles and Traction-Lok unit for a nice price. Fluids, seals and bearings are extra.

Just buy the rebuild kit from Reinhart. It's not hard to put in.

Are you thinking you may have the worn axle issue? Couldn't this still be covered under the TSB?

TSB doesn't mean it's 'covered'. It just means the tech will be informed what to look for.
