Okay this morning I turned on the defroster on full blast as I sc***** the frost from my car. I tried to open the rear door , but it was still locked. The thing I noticed when I lifted the handle was that there was air blowing out of the door handle. I just found it very odd to find air blowing out of the door handle.

Has anyone else found this little oddity?

I have noticed the same type of thing.

I can remote start my car with the A/C on and feel the cold air comming out the door handles

its not perfectly sealed

Defrost does not pull recirculated air. It uses outside air. Outside air pumped in 'pressurizes' the cabin. Therefore, air will 'leak' out anywhere it can find a place. Interior door panels are by no means air tight, so it makes sense. It would be more and more noticable the higher the fan speed.

I have often found many air 'leaks' in cars with large subwoofer installations!!!!

Although I bet Ford didn't mean to, the warmer air coming out behind the handles is a plus for warming them!!!!!!

Are we discussing refrigerators? What exactly is frost, and why would you ever need to scrape it from your car?

-- apologies to our northern brothers-- just a little winter fun from sunny Florida...

That's just the heated door handle feature.

What is cold?

Something like this......
http://www.mercurymarauder.net/showcase/files/3/1/0/2/temp.jpg

That was from last winter, as is the winter signature.

is that the special Ice fishing edition Marauder? You know the one with heated door handles, seats, and outside temp gauges that go negative?

My 95 Gmarq daily driver has been doing it since I've had it.

That is the one and only Ice Fishing Edition MM 1/10,981.

Thanks to Global Warming the ice is not thick enough for sane people to drive on the lake yet. But we have another three months of winter for things to thicken up:eek:

Any of you "Winter Folk" ever set up a DRAG RACING event on a frozen "POND"?? I think that would be a bunch of fun....especially with a blower!!!

1320 ET's in the 38.xx second range with "BLINDING" speeds of 35 MPH or higher??!!;)

Maybe some of you guys & gals with severe "Cabin Fever" have already done this......I know there are folks that do it with Snow Mobiles but HIGH POWERED cars would be interesting and funny!!!:D

Sorry for the hijack, But everytime I look at that picture of the "Ice fishing Marauder" in jeremy's signature, I am reminded of why I had to have a Marauder....

That is one beautiful profile! IMHO the best looking modern sedan...hands down.

The air coming out of the handles may be a good thing. Keeps circulation in the door cavity and gets high moisture out.

While were at it, has anyone here "shaved" their door handles?
And if so how did it look?
Any pics???
