What can one do to the passenger rear view mirror, I hate the fact "objects are closer than they apear". When moveing in heavy traffic I'am not looking for a guessing game when changeing lanes. I want to see traffic distance as it truely is. In addition I would like a rear view side mirror that would dim the reflection of traffic head light in back of me. I find the reflection to be some times blinding and distracting. Can the mirror it self not the houseing just be replaced for a true distance view along with a special coating to elimate glare ?

You can always replace the mirror with a new non-"objects are closer than they appear" mirror, but it was engineered like that for a reason.... safety.

As for the reflection, most likely your mirrors are not adjusted correctly. See:

for instructions on proper adjustment.

I made the changes as linked above (from a previous post by [wazzizname?]). I'm still getting used to it (35 years of habit is hard to break) but it makes a world of difference. I can see more of what's behind and beside me and no more glare in the side view at night.

I can't believe I have been driveing arond all these years not haveing my side rear mirrors adjusted incorrectly. I feel like some one who went through a red light while talking on a cell phone and trying to light a smoke at the same time. Thanks for the correction much appreciated.
