Sct Xcal2 instructions say to remove fuses for fuel pump and fans. Which fans? Cooling system, cabin interior, or both, and are there others?
Are the fuses easily located, ( as in labeled,) ?:help:
Thanks

I did not do this, and things worked well for me.
Perhaps I just got lucky?

I think they ask you to do that to assure you dont lose battery power while in the middle of a download, assuming you have a weak electrical system. I have never done so while uploading files...but that doesnt make it ok. :D

Thanks,
I was sure they ask for fuse removal to avoid power drain during flashing, but it is reassuring to know others have sucessfully flashed while omiting that step.

DR I think advised me that this is not necessary for Marauders. I don't even have a clue where to look for the fusebox. LOL But I love my xcal2!

Both fuses in question- one for the radiator cooling fan, the other for the fuel pump, are located in the power distribution box under the hood near the battery. The fuse locations are clearly marked in the owners manual.

You don't need to remove fuses. Just turn off radio, auto climate control and make sure air pump has already run. I've flashed numerous times with no ill effects.

They just want to make sure there isn't a large current draw on the battery when you flash the PCM so the programmer doesn't reset because of low voltage from the ODB port.
The pump on a returnless fuel system starts and then shuts off about a second later to pressurize the fuel rail when you turn the key on, so it isn't drawing any current until you start the car. On a return fuel system the pump runs continuously so that's why they tell you to pull the fuse. I haven't noticed my fan running with the key on but that's not to say it wouldn't if the engine was hot.
Definitely turn off the radio and climate control. I also turn off my air suspension because it seems to want to kick on a few seconds after I turn the key on.

If you have the original SCMT-1725, than you must remove the fuel pump fuse or you may Damage the fuel pump, it's stated in the instructions manual.
The fuses are easy to locate, in your engine bay on the passenger side, small black box.

Thanks to all who have responded. I will use the advice to good advantage Monday when I do the programming.
Today I have just installed and road tested the GMS coilpacks and connectors. Seat of pants feels more responsive, long term will tell if mileage improves. The install went well, but it was a little tricky as far as reversining the wires in the coil pack connectors.
Tomorrow will be the installation of the PHP spacer Dennis sent me, hope it goes well. Hoping for more power and mileage, especially when I get the SCT programmer with DR's tune on board.
I am in Socal so probably not going to upgrade to forced induction, C.A.R.B and all that to contend with.
Best Regards:beer:
