First oil change today at 500 miles. Went back with 5W20 dino oil. Found a disappointing surprise while I was working underneath it: Tranny is leaking somewhere around the torque converter/front pump area, gotta come back out. While I was putting fresh oil in up top, I noticed some belt damage. Hope this isn't going to be a standard feature or I'll be changing to a Kenne Bell.
Impressions: This is crazy fast. Get on it and it's spinning the tires. From a roll, from a standing start, at highway speeds, whatever you're doing when you stomp it, it's gonna spin. The tune is spot-on, drives like a normal car at light throttle positions. Wife says it drives just like her stocker, except it makes a lot more noise. Moderate throttle positions it kicks you in the kidneys. Don't have a clue what it will do at WOT, you can't do that any more.

I want to thank you for letting me ride in it this morning and I want to complement you on the strongest ride Ive had in quite a while. Folks this car is a monster when you get on it. You had better damn well be pointed perfectly straight when you lay into it because it breaks the rear loose and want to sidestep sideways easily....Car is very streetable and has excellent manners when easing around...Congradulations once again Brian I think Martyo , Dennis Reinhart, Jerry Barnes, and Prorauder now have a new force to be reckoned with...SWEET CAR DUDE.......

Congrats on the buildup, can't wait to see some track #'s on it, sounds like it'll be tough to hook up but when you do... :D
Sounds like on heck of a ride!

:burnout:Damn Brian, I hope its just a minor issue for you. That is one "wicked" ( as us northerners are prone to say) ride!:banana2:

Brian,
Sorry to hear about the tranny leak. With the extent and complexity of the build/project, I guess one is to expect a few of those unwanted surprises until "final set-up reliability" is reached. Already a very, very impressive build. Hope for the best for the repair.
If you don't mind me asking, what's your belt set-up ? Stock 6 ribs, 8 ribs, stock tensioner, Cobra front cover and tensioner ?
Thanks
Brian,
Give that tranny seal another thousand miles to wear in. Keep an eye on it in the mean time. You never know!
Sounds ferocious,
J

8-rib, early style front cover ('93-'99) with the steel 3-bolt tensioner. Strange thing is it tracked perfectly while on the dyno. I guess the on-off-on-off throttle thing is making it jump a little bit.

Hey Brian.....
First off....Congratulations for your "Bullet Proof" buildup!! :bows:
I will be the first one to say more power is a GOOD thing but it sounds to me you have built something dangerous to the "average" driver......since you said WOT can't be done anymore?? Are you going to be able to add tires that will put the power to the road and make it more "Streetable"??
I ask because my setup (P1SC with stock gears and 295's) is dangerous enough in cool air and especially if the road is wet!!!:shake: I've been sideways a couple times with surprise downshifts that apply WAAAAAY too much "Grunt" at the wrong time!!:argue:
Good Luck and BE CAREFUL out thar!!:D

I don't think it's possible to get enough traction to put this much power down on the street. I expect serious problems even on the track. Just keep in mind, take off easy and NEVER go WOT on the street. Learn a new set of reflexes with the right foot.
Downshifts are frightening, though. Haven't been in the rain yet, but probably will get to experience that today.

The amount of work that Brian put into this project is just overwhelming. The attention to engineering and appearance details is amazing. You have to see the engine to appreciate what a "real work of art" this complete engine is in addition to its unreal street performance. But, the most incredible thing in my mind is that Brian has done all of this work including all the mechanical work (except of course the engine machining and sub-assembling) competely by himself including the total engine and transmission package assembling and installation into the MM. Great job!

Nice job!
It's so nice to have a project of this magnitude doucumented in detail and shared w/ the membership!
Thanks Brian.
