I want my ten bucks back.
Anybody else have one of these?
I was tired of the dangling gas cap scratching the paint (why didn't they put a hanger on the back of the fuel door? ) so I bought one of these (http://www.stant.com/brochure.cfm?brochure=3089&location_id=3755).
Great idea - NASCAR style filler port, just poke the nozzle in and fill 'er up (that sounds vaguely dirty).
They were on sale for $9.95 (marked down from $14.95) so I figured it was the perfect cure. Ha! There is an inherent design flaw: water from rain or car wash collects in the recess above the trap door. If you don't soak it up with a paper towel, it pours down the filler neck when you insert the nozzle.
Bleh . . . back to square one.

I wouldn't get one of those because there a chance of a check fuel cap light coming on.
I like my locking fuel cap from Ford, Thank you.

Yea. My boss from work on her Dakota she had some wierd gas thing. She's had to take her truck back to the dealer 3 times to get the CEL cleared and 3 new gas caps.

My gas cap fits rather neatly up and out of the way by being stuffed just above the filler tube at about the 10 or 11 o'clock position.

I had Perma Caps from batinc.net on my Focus and the wifes Contour for 4 and 6 years respectively. Never had a problem with either one. The design is different so that water can not accumulate at the opening. If interested the cap is on page 47 of the Focus parts pdf.

try a fuel bib from Innovative Interceptors:nono: ! DON'T ! forget that you should listen to ROYLPITA & RCSIGNALS they got point I see those in Western auto bur instead of that I preefer to buy the locking ones they're much secure from someone steal or sabotage pouring sand or water inside the gas hole so you still in time to switch to locking one and get one gas Bib from INNOVATIVE INTERCEPTORS like I did I haven't recieve it get but when it comes I will post a pic to show how nice and WAESOME looks.
STRYKER. :burnout:
Do like I did on my Crown Vic and cut the damn harness off. I just unscrew the cap and set it on top of the gas pump. I consider myself a reasonably intelligent man, so I haven't driven off without putting the cap back on yet.

What he said, works with most Fords.

try a fuel bib from Innovative InterceptorsThat looks like a good solution. Thanks for the tip!

I like my locking fuel cap from Ford, Thank you.I've had the InStant Fill cap on for a couple of weeks, and that light hasn't come on yet. Stant says that the cap meets all emissions and OBD standards, and that seems to be so. :dunno:

You don't have to cut anything. Use a flat-blade screw driver and twist apart the fuel cap at where the harness ring sits in the cap. Take the entire ring off and re-assemble the gas cap.
BTW the new Mustangs come with a small plastic fuel "bib" wing at the neck, and the gas caps are tethered at the fuel door that allows them to dangle away from the car. On the Crown Vic, the caps are tethered at the filler neck. I'd be more worried about a large vinyl/plastic sheath causing scratches in the paint from the salt and grit collecting on the surface, than a small plastic gas cap doing the same.
BTW I had a Stant locking gas cap seize up on me in this winter. It took a pair of vise grips and a lot of elbow grease to unlock it from the filler neck. Go with the Ford locking gas cap or just the regular gas cap.
