This is weird, but during the past week, I have noticed an odor after driving my '04 MM that resembles burning rubber. This is after normal daily driving, and was particularly intense today after driving to work.
I did apply a DR custom tune Monday 01/22, and on 01/21 and 01/20, I instaleed PHP spacer and GMS coilpacks and connectors. Did not notice the odor until Monday, and has occured each time I have driven the car since, which is daily.
The car is working great, and not leaking any fluids, none spilled on the engine, odor seems to be towards the rear of the car. It shifts faster and goes faster since the tune, so that makes me very happy, but the odor is baffling,( and it is not from breaking the rear tires loose on occasion.)
Any ideas or any others out there with similar occurences?
Best,

Is it possible that there is a tire in the rear rubbing against something? I had that problem on a Musatng a while back.

Same thing happened to me once, except it was a Honda.

No plastic bag, though it did happen once before, but the smell is different. No tire rubbing, or serpentine belt clearance problem. No smoky burnouts, or trans fluid leaks.
Very perplexing, guess I will have to live with it, until something shows up as the cause.
Thanks for the responses.

Oh man this happened to two cars I had, a 1997 LeSabre and a 2003 TL-S. It took a MONTH for the smell to go away, it literally smelled like I was driving a huge hot glue gun as a car. Damn that sucked so bad.
