Simple question, do you get more of the supercharger whine from a roots blower or from a vortech, paxton, procharger type?

Smaller pulleys=More boost=More noise...

roots is only loud under acceleration and a centrifugal whines even at idle

This will give you an idea of what a stock Trilogy kit with K&N intake will sound like......

Trilogy 132 and the K&N sound awesome from inside the car.
Outside the car, heads snap like a dry twig in a tornado to see what's coming at them!
My Brother says he can hear it from over a mile away when I'm on the road home... he lives next door.

Mmmmmmmm...... boost!

You get more whine from a S/C with straight cut gears than one with helical cut gears

Another S/ced thread:rolleyes: I thought this was going to be something else like for me i prefer a glass of Cabernet Sauvignon/Merlot(yummy) with my Supercharger..

IMO, I wonder if a Cogs kit would fit on a Marauder with a centri kit? Oh man, do I love that Cogs sound.

I thought Cogs made more of a clatter?

ProCharger has straight cut gears and makes a BUNCH of noise at idle!!:argue:

When I first started my car with the PC....I immediately shut it down and called Greg since it sounded like shaking a metal can full of marbles!!?? Off idle it gets quieter.....loading the gears with blower resistance!!

It has a distinctive whine at idle......when driving I can't hear it in the car but others say it is there especially on hard acceleration!!

My Trilogy w/PHP CAI is practically silent until you get close to 0" of vacuum and begin the transition into boost.

The Trilogy Eaton (roots M112) is quite when idle and cruising, but during hard acceleration it will emit a satisfying audible whine

A centrifugal is much louder, at idle and WOT.
If loads of that ultra-high pitch whine is what you're after, a centrifugal will be your best bet.

Centri blowers are a good deal louder, at idle and at WOT. just rolling down the street makes quite a ruckus... for better or for worse, you tend to lose the sleeper effect with a centri blower

............not so sure the sleeper effect is truely a lost --actually, with all the fart cans and loud mufflers most of the idiots have lately next to ya they can't hear my whistle next to them---half of the time they don't even know the light turned green --listining to their noise makers---until they look up and see my tail lights going away from the light---wow--these folks are something--now a real racing car---yeah--you can tell when one of those beauties pull up along next to ya---it has a whole different sound if you been around cars at all --you know when and what your up against sometimes-----anyway--I'm not so sure the whistle is even "heard" most of the time--with low throttle---

vortechs might not be loud, but I'm running a Paxton Novi 2000 and it's seriously loud

Mine, with a Vortech sq is near silent at idle (Helical cut gears)
and is still a sleeper, the Hemi's get a surprise.

and the procharger has a nice "whistle" to let you know its there

other models make different noises

same thing with exhaust and Mufflers...etc

The novi 1200LS kit is just a nice clean whistle that is very suddle, it actually sounds like a jet just befor takeoff. I was worried about the noise because I have heard the vortec but I am very happy with the novi...
