Well I am quite acustom to seeing smoke come from the rear tires of my MM but this was the first time I'd seen it from the front. The smoke was followed shortly after by flames 20' high. Lets just say there is now 1 less black 03. Not sure what happened Fire dept. figured it was electrical. Started under hood on passenger side after a short 10 min. drive. No one was hurt, only thing uncooked is trunkarea and rear two rims. Motor and heads melted as well as front rims. The only question now is Camaro or Challenger?
OMG! Dude, I'm so sorry! That really rots. I'm happy you're okay but distressed about the car. I wish you well in you search for a replacement, whatever it is!

Are you ****g serious???? I realize this is only once incident but my god. I believe I speak for everyone when I ask if you could PLEASE be more specific on the EXACT cause of this fire..... its scary to think about out marauders bursting into flame after a 10 minuite jaunt. Did you do aynthing to the fuel system , like possibly a leaky pass side fuel rail, or a leak in the fuel line?? Electrical fire alone? doesnt it seem like there had to be a accelerant present to melt a block and heads which reach 500* ferenheit internally OR the aluminum Rims. please please please give us some more info.

No work has been recently done to the car. I heard the fuel line let go and saw alarge fireball about 23-4 mins. into the fire. Car burned for about 15mins before the hose co. arrived so the heat was probabally around 2-3000 degrees. I do not know the exact cause.

Glad to hear you're ok. Be sure to keep everyone updated on the cause. Hopefully this is an isolated incident among the marauder community

Well... seeing as how neither the Challenger nor Camaro exist (yet), why not a Mustang? :D

The fuel line to the rail is on the left side. The only things that could ignite on the right aside from faulty injector o rings are the blower motor resistor, fluid leak from the trans lines and dip stick tube, and maybe the a/c lines. I once heard that the new r134a is flammable but it could be the oil that is in the system.

r134a refrigerant I understand isn't 'new' it was around before R12, although possibly under a different identifier.
r134a is what makes burbling noises in refrigerators, and I've heard also that it is flammable

So glad that you got out of there and far enough away in time. You picked sweet choices as your new cars. Only question I have is how can you wait until they are available?

What else is on the right side: Battery, Junction box, and starter.

Sorry to hear about your loss. :( As everyone else has mentioned, if you get anymore inight into the cause of the fire, many of us would be interested. I've seen recalls on other FORDs recently involving the "cruise control" ..... but none of them mentioned the Panther platforms.

Sorry to hear about your "fire sale". I am sure it was an experience you are not in hurry to do over again. If you can wait then go for the Challenger, if not them a new Mustang should suffice.

They show a recall on purolator after market fuel filters due to leaking and fire possibility. Hmmmmm, I wonder.

Yes afterward!
The fuel line is on the right (passenger side) inside the engine compartment.
