I want to buy someone's stock driveshaft. FedEx or DHL will ship it cheap. Must be willing to ship.

I just had the rear axle kit installed by the dealer (they were showing the usual soft axle wear at 23k miles). They also replaced the front bearing hubs just for fun.

What I still have is a very, very minor harmonic vibration at 40-60 mph. I have had out of balance driveshafts on RWD cars before and this is likely my problem. I need a spare shaft so I don't have my car down to get the shaft balanced. Also if they find it's bent I need a spare shaft to either replace it, or have retubed.

Are you sure the u-joints are good? That is usually the first place to look on a vibrating driveshaft.

Thanks guys, I have a couple leads. It may be U joints but I will grab an extra d/s and have it balanced just to amuse myself.

Have you tried indexing it?

MarauderJack, please check your PMs. Thanks!

I have not tried indexing it. A perfectly balanced shaft won't be affected by its index, so I'm going to get one balance checked. MM2004, are your valve stem caps self-installed too?

Which ones? I am just giving him a good natured hard time, I have never seen such a detailed list of small accessories before. I think I will list that I have a few quarters under my driver's seat, which are also self installed. They will be self removed tomorrow.

There is no such thing as a perfectly balanced driveshaft. And indexing can, and will lessen/increase NVH on a vehicle due to pinion-runout related to driveshaft 'low-side' imbalance.

This is the first complaint received of my 'detailed list' of accessories.

That would include prior to me becoming an owner of this board.

If my sig. is preventing you from getting a good night's sleep, set your preferences to not view sigs.

Come on, this is not a complaint. I hope you have thicker skin than that. All in good fun, didn't mean any harm. My apologies if I offended you. I'm glad you are proud of your tamper proof valve stem caps.

Mike, understood about no d/s balance being perfect. I wish there was such a thing though! That would make life so nicey nice. I also understand from checking installed d/s with a dial indicator that there is always runout from other sources (including U joints). I saw that the pinion flange thingy on this car has a lot more holes than are used. Are all of the extra holes on the same bolt pattern as the ones being used? Or are they for something else? I will certainly give the indexing a shot.
