After reading the "no heat" threads, and having posted one myself, from what i have gathered, a new water pump might be in order.

I thought i saw a post on here about the navigator water pump being the one to get due to it being more efficient (more and smaller impellers IIRC). (when compared to the MM, Cobra R, and Navi units)

Can anyone confirm this for me?

Its not the water pump, its air in the system.
I fight it all the time.

where does the air keep coming from? the no heat when i'm not moving is really not cutting it in MN...

You dont have all of it removed. Im struggling with my car now.
Best advice is to get it to operating temp, then REMOVE the crossover plug.
A lot will spew out, but it is necessary.
I would let it bleed for 10 minutes or so.

I have found my other cars with the cooling mod do not have this problem.

Once I installed the Mezirie electic water pump I have never had a issue, and I have ran these for years with not one problem.

Yes, The Meziere makes bleeding the system much easier!!

i cant figure out where all you guys are having this problem with air pockets it does not make any sense ,ive never had a problem with mine nor have i seen this kind of problem in any other car ive ever worked on ,id say the hardest car to bleed is a 3.1 gm motor or a 32 valve lincoln motor but it still does not continue to be a problem

We have a 32 valve lincoln motor (INTECH) last time I checked. :D

yeah, youd think that it would be easy enough, but air pockets continue to show themselves in my cooling system..

I've had the air bubbles with and without the Meziere pump. but since i've gotten it back from Dr this last i haven't had that issue. (knock on wood)

Yes.
I bled mine with the front end on ramps and the pump running. Heated it up with heat on high and bled again. No issues.

One of us needs to buy the Mighty-Vac they use at the Ford dealers.
They suck all the coolant out, create a Vacuum in the cooling ystem, then it all gets sucked back in, leaving no air bubbles.

Yes Zack, with your lips this should not be a problem, but just so happens I have one when you are not around LOL

I had some real big time troulbe getting air to come out of a '95 Subaru Legacy - I did a flush and hose replacements as routine maintenance for a family member. The air was tough to get out.

The end fix was to bleed it four times on a sloped driveway (not even a big slope), changing the way the car was pointed (bascially turning it 90 degrees each time) - that did the trick for that car.

Basically having the engine/cooling system tilted in different directions, I must've found the right position to get the trapped air to come to the top.

Maybe that would help the Marauders?

I put a new 2003 32V 5.4L in my 2000 navigator last year...(don't ask why...) ...and yes it was a *****.....

..but I'm getting the same air bubbles in the coolant issuse "I think"...
so it seems to be a mod motor thing....

I have no heat enless I romp on it and get the rpms over 5G then heat blows like a MoFO

I only had this once and overheated the car after changing to the 180 stat and not burping the system properly before putting the cap back on the crossover tube. Stupid. Still, don't think I did any damage. Opened up the crossover tube cap and added coolant, and let it run with the cap loose for a while. No problems since, and now have the Meziere pump from Dennis.

It is a DOHC modular 'thing'

Our Navigator (with 5.4l 32v/DOHC) had it's heater core replaced for a gurgle (NVH) issue - the dealer techs seemed to be having trouble getting all the air out of the system. To the point of actually calling Ford tech hotline to figure out what to do. They got it good now, though, but there is a still a slight 'gushing' sound on initial cold start up.
