Well, I survived my connectioning flight from Atlanta and am safely here at my hotel in Houston.

Is there any interest in dinner/beers tonight as a group?

(listens for cricket sounds)

I'll check back later this afternoon or you can call. Six One Five Three Nine Zero Nine Zero Five One

Wouldn't you know it ... I just missed whoever called from Seatrax.

You didn't leave a number, so I can't get through the switchboard.

I'm gonna take up two beautiful young ladies on their invite for dinner ... unless I hear different from one of you Houstonites soon. (Did I mention that most of the spokesman types in this line of work used to be on television ... think young and blonde. I stick out like a sore thumb!)

We're leaving at 6:30 to find a spot for dinner, but I'd still love to go out for drinks later on with Marauders. Don't be afraid of the weather, which is admittedly pretty crummy (rain).

Sorry, couldn't have made it, but I'll be in Houston Friday. How long is your stay?

Well, it didn't work out to meet any marauders but I did get to do something almost equally hilarious ... I rode in a Toyota Prius.

Now that may not strike you as particularly funny, however I assure you that I will try to put that in its proper context.

I'm down in Houston to meet with the EPA/Coast Guard and help plan a Spill of National Significance (SONS) exercise that simulates a major oil spill due to a simultaneous tornado strike to a Naval fuel yard in the Great Lakes and an 7.7 earthquake that results in urban devastation and a massive oil spill along the Mississippi River from St. Louis to Memphis. And to help us, we're also meeting with some of the major oil refiners in the country.

So here I am going out to dinner/drinks with ConocoPhillips and other oil company executives but to get back to the hotel ... about 5 of us piled into a Prius, which gets 50 mpg. I kept asking our oily-types whether their bosses would approve of them being seen with the enemy.:censor:

I wish I could hang around tomorrow, but I'll be flying out around 4:30 tomorrow afternoon ... assuming that flights are still on time.
