I started a project today to find the limits of what can be salvaged from a Crown Victoria, with 204,494 miles. The vehicle has not been kept clean in any way, shape or form, as you will see from the pictures. I have been asked to work any magic I can in the interior. Using a couple tricks I have, I've made quite a transformation with the passenger side door panel and door sill thus far.

Up above is exactly what the passenger side door panel looked like, minus the blue window switch cover.

The door sill was very dirty from shoes hitting it, and now, it can almost be claimed as brand new. The door panel has made an immense transformation and the customer could not believe his eyes.

This is what half of the seat looked like, once spot treated and extracted. There is some hope left! The driver's seat looks like a nightmare (For us detailers ;))
I'll be working on it again tomorrow - Stay Tuned!

Fire maybe?
No fire, it's dust. I wondered the same thing, but it wipes right off.

I have never seen a car so dirty in my life and I don't care how many miles it has on it. Why is everything black? Unless the owner works as a roofer or some form of construction I cannot see why or how it could get so bad.
I have seen cars full of clutter and maybe some dirt on the floor mats but the only thing that can make the seats and dash that dirty is a dirty driver. I mean he actually has to be wearing dirty clothes.
Please, post more pics of the car in general and then post pics of the after.
I know that you are going to make her look like new.

It began it's life as a police car, then moved onto the Taxi life. It has since been retired, neglected, and forgotten about. The current owner got it for free. As for the extreme amount of dirt and filth, I could not tell you what life it lead after being a taxi. Maybe a parts getter for an auto shop? No idea...
I don't have too many before pictures but I'll be getting more tomorrow for you folks.

now thats looks RIGHT out of a junkyard where it sat for 4 years with the doors open, right next to a landfill.
I know the pleasure that can be derived from the make making the transformation from that to what it may become, i congradutale you on an excellent job in the process of being done

My first thoughts were pics from a slavage yard as well.
How in the hell does a car get that dirty
Jason, you have a true talent, and will be watching this for the step by step transformation.
Keep the pics of your progress coming.

I would use my favorite cleaning method.
A gallon of gas.
And a match.

Back in the early 80's as a line mechanic at Terry Ford in Pompano Beach, Fla. I once was asked to work on a car that was worse. Had so much crap in it you couldn't see the carpet, the drivers door panel and the left rear door panel had so much tobacco spit on it you couldn't tell what color it was and the real kicker was the cockroaches..... I declined to work on the car.

I would seriously consider at least a good mask and eye protection...it does look as if it sat with the windows open for a while so you may have a mold issue. When we detailed cars that bad we would wear little white jump suits, latex gloves, dual filtered masks and goggles...seriously!!

Great work, Jason. BTW, are they giving away any more CVPIs up there? I would like one for the 5.4 project.
