Well I had to leave the fold. One week ago I traded in the MM on an Acura RL. We moved and the MM could not get up the driveway in snow. Plus the wife hated it. I know I haven't been around lately but I really have enjoyed this forum. Good luck to all!

Yeah, they're nice, comfortable, smooth...:blah:

BUT:

How many people stare at your Acura while sitting next to you at a traffic light?

How many people start up conversations with you at gas stations, parking lots, and traffic lights about your Acura?

How many people FOLLOW you in your Acura until you park to ask; "WHAT kind of car is that? It is wicked looking!"

Honestly, I would not trade my Marauder in for any other car..because there is NO other car like it!

I am surprised by your MM getting troubles in the snow.

I live in Quebec, in the Laurentian mountains. Temperature is very often going down to -30 Celsius -since the beginning of January. So all we have here is snow, more snow and some roads looking like skating rings. I admit that my MM is in the garage. I drove it only last year's winter with a set of new blizzacks. No problem. The main reason why I do not drive the MM this winter is because of the salt, the dirt and the stones. So I drive my MGM LSE that was recently lightly tuned -SCT2, cold air induction- with some equipment and advices coming from Dennis Reinhart. The car probably delivers about 250 HP. True that I have studded tyres. But believe me : I am doing approximately 700 miles per week and I was NEVER facing troubles, so far. When the road is not yet cleaned up -that happens in the early morning after snow storms-, nobody overcomes me on the highway : call them Subaru, Audi Quattro, etc...they all keep the right lane or just pull somewhere to leave me going free. I drove sometimes the Subaru of my wife and I do not feel more secure in it. Yes, below 35 mph, it looks better. But over that speed, I prefer the MGM.

Trading for an Acura, huh ! Nice car. but no "presence" on the road. And a lot of $$$$$ to spend when it comes to spares and service - I had an FX 45 and I have the Subaru of my wife so I know what I am talking about. I am glad for you, anyway. And I think that if somewhere you are still attracted by cars rather than by tools, you will come back soon to something less boring - perhaps a new interceptor when it comes !

Improper use of "an" alert. Please see below,

"an" the form of a used before words beginning with a vowel or with an unpronounced h: an elephant; an hour

"an powerful" - does not work - p is a consonant

"an garbage" - does not work - g is a consonant

Hope this helps...along with :pill:

I guess you told me. One last question though. Do you have clear plastic seat covers and floor mats in your GM? Continental kit? Curb feelers? Strawberry airfreshener hanging from the mirror? Furry steering wheel cover?

P.S. After driving the stock RL for a week I would be more than happy to run a stock GM or MM. The RL is deceptively quick. It would be fun.

LOL An RL would destroy a Grand Marquis (then again so would a lot of things). I had a TL-S with the 3.2, the RL is the 3.5.

Sorry bro, yea I loved that car more then most people loved there family. But I owned the biggest lemon ever created. Sorry but I was towed to the dealer stranded on the highway more times then Pintos caught fire. Ticking
valves, 3 thermostats, 2 altinators, cooling fan, struts, lots and lots of blue
smoke, the list goes on. All this between 6K and 20K miles. Why should I
drive a lesser car? what am I paying for every month? And Ford wonders
why there buisness is going down the toobs. I love Marauders, and wish
you the best with all of yours.

I have to agree with you, the RL makes the Marauder seem like poo, the quality and finish in those cars are top knotch, and if you have the ability why no upgrade. If I could aford it I like you would have a nicer car.

Acura is certainly not above the law though. I owned one of the MANY 2000-2003 TL type S's that ate transmissions like it was its job (The TL and Honda Accord have the same problem in that year range). I was on trans #4 at 46k miles and I called it quits and sold the car. It was faster than the Marauder stock, outhandled it so bad it wasn't even funny, and had much much better seats (and build quality, by a long shot). Plus got about 5 mpg better. But Honda/Acura can't fix the 2000-2003 transmissions because of an undersized 3rd gear clutch pack, so they keep rebuilding them and having them fail every zero to 50k miles (or every couple thousand if you get them from the same reman house my dealer was getting them from) so I had to can it. The Marauder is a big huge tank that is sooo 30 year old Detroit in every way except the quad cam engine. I figure the major components should last until the end of time though.

Sorry to hear that your Marauder was such a P.O.S....:o

I guess if I had that many problems with mine, I'd be disheartened as well.

I've had "0" problems with my Marauder, and I've NEVER had it back to the Dealer....
Of course I started to 'mod' mine almost immediately and probably would have been denied any warranty claims if I had encountered any.

Good God people, Rob has been a member here longer than most of the Nube's have even KNOWN what a Marauder is. No one keeps a daily driver for ever. He purchased the car NEW and I doubt very seriously he would replace it with a used car. It isn't like Mercury came out with an AWD Marauder for 07 so chill the he!! out.

Best of luck to you Chief! I hope you get at least 3 trouble free years out of the RL.

I think the Acura RL is a brilliant decision.

It will keep your wife happy. Everything else is a detail.

Although... my SHO Tauri lacked "road presences"... and that let me nearly fly under the radar while living in Pittsburgh and dating my girlfriend/fiance in Indy for 2 years.

I'm sure my guards red Porsche 911 has more presence, but the Tauri would make the trip just as fast with far fewer speeding tickets. Not to sound like a d1ck, but times change & needs change... and this man needs something other than a Marauder now. That's okay.

This guy thought enough of his MM to hang out here, and he's being grilled for leaving? That only makes the Acura seem smarter since, as was said above, the 2007 AWD MM is so hard to find.

Enjoy an exquisite piece of engineering in that RL.
