My first inclination that one of the lock actuators was faulty, dates back a very long time.
They operated without fail but once in long while, there was a wierd sound that they(1) would make.
Sounded like a short curcuit.
Yesterday 5 am, near 0*, I had to use my key, It was the drivers door.
Probably the only time that lock, ever saw a key.

The one in my drivers door acted up the first year of ownership. It was an intermittent issue ... might have made a funky grinding noise once every 25-30x you got in/out of the car using the remote.
Replaced under warranty - was fine for (6) months & started doing the same thing again(still intermittent). I figured I'd let it go if it gets no worse & replace it at the end of month 35 under the bumper to bumper warranty.
Think I heard the rear drivers door do it once too.

Good luck getting the dealer to replace it again if they cannot repeat the problem.
I am in the same boat. Lock completely failed one day after acting up for many months. It has been acting up again but only around once per month. I know better than to even bother going to the dealer until it fully fails again (if I am still under warranty.)

Mine makes that noise often and sometimes the front passenger's door doesn't unlock the first try.....Wonder what causes this??

Same here it's the right front door(passenger). My wife thinks I lock her out on purpose sometimes.:P

My driver'd side door lock is tempermental. I'm gonna wait to build up a long list of stuff to do for one deductible.
