Hello all,
I've posted now a few times about a 2003 Marauder that I'm looking at (Canadian model)... Roy was good enough to run an OASIS report for me, and it looks like it has about 1,500 KM of original warranty or 1 yr left..... Manufacture date 12/02/02 - SO, will this be affected by the soft axle issue? Looks like it's 2 days before the 12/04/02 changeover date...

Best way to have a dealer fix this, or look specifically at the axle? Anything else to have them do while it's still in original warranty?

Thanks,
Colin

And, I should specify on the warranty - I'd assume the axles would definitely fall under "powertrain", correct?

Also, the valve stem smoke issue - how likely is this to be present, and will a start from cold show it if present?

Thanks....

Hello all,

Thanks,

Check the headlights for moisture too. Had both of mine replaced under
warranty.

I think that does have the soft axles. By all means get them checked at the dealer before it's too late.

Colin,

I noticed a slight moaning in the rear end at 25 to 60 mph.
Above that too much noise to hear. Thought it was a loose anti sway bar.

There is a TSB (there is a thread on this ) on our rear ends.
Most FORD Dealers are very aware.
This Dealer, Walnut Creek Ford (lg. Cobra & CV law enforcemant dealer in Calif.) was quick to test it and yes new rear Axles & Bearings were needed. I think they used an electronic listening device to ck.
Also they said it happens often to CHP and Police cars.

They ordered a kit to fix it right away.
Detail reads---28887 SSM 03-5-5 on Oasis covers rear axel bearings and axel prematuer wear.

I was very lucky I found it before the warranty was over!
So have a dealer ck it out while there is still time.

I had the 03-05-05 done on my 08/02 300A with only 23k miles. The rear axles were already toast from the bearings. Get it done soon because the metal the axles put in the rear oil will wipe out the carrier bearings if left unattended.
