I had seen a black Marauder around town with 3 little antennae on the trunk lid. Got behind it today and I saw the Police Interceptor logo on the back.
Other than a diffferent driveshaft what else is needed in a Marauder to make it a PI?

A PI badge :D A better question might be what would it take to make a PI a Marauder? $$$$$$$ and lots of upgraded equipment.
Seriously though, other than the driveshaft and 31 spline axles on the newer PI's I don't think there is any "hardware" to speak of that an MM doesnt have but others here are probably more well versed on this than I am.

Yea, just a PI badge. A guy at work had a black 300A with a pushbar and a PI badge. Not sure what happened to the car, and why it had them on there.

A true Police Interceptor (P71) has some additional frame strengthening, a bigger alternator, slightly revised PCM programming, and can be ordered with a variety of options not available on civilian cars, things like pre-wiring for roof lights, antennae, spotlights, extra power circuits in the trunk for radios, rear inside door handle deletes, "dark mode" operation, one-piece plastic rear seat, and so forth. Other than the sort of things I've mentioned, a Police Interceptor is no different than a civilian model. The only thing needed to "make" a MM into a PI is the badge on the trunk lid.

Does a Type R Badge on a MM make it the Import Type R Version?

There is no Marauder PI model. There were/are Marauders being used by police agencies across the country. They may or may not put a PI badge on the back. I don't see a PI badge but he may be standing in front of it. I do see 3 little antennas and he is in California....

My Marauder has a PI badge on it. It will be on the left right where the guy is blocking it standing there.

In addition to RF's list
For 03+
The CVPI also boasts stiffer spring rates, front and rear, than the Marauder. Unique lower control arms (Limo and CVPI - 03-06.5), larger front stabilizer bar (04+, 29mm vs MM 28mm) and a unique steering rack (mm also has unique ratio)
The drive shaft is comparable for the Marauder vs CVPI (exc AMMC) - both aluminum, but the CVPI shaft lacks the yoke dampener the Marauder d/s has.
31 spline axles did not come until the 2005 model year -and it was added to all models (not just p71)

The Vomit Comet interior also includes a FULL RUBBER FLOOR MAT (carpet deleted).
That is not included in any civilian car...

On the car I mentioned the antenna are short and clustered in the middle of the trunk lid at the window edge. If I see it again I will get a cell phone picture.

In 06 Ford dropped the name interceptor and went back to calling it Crown Vic on the back trunk. :(
Having a tach for the first time (16 years) in a work car is pretty cool. I can finally see what RPM's the engine is turning... The dash setup is pretty bland, black back ground with red needles.

That's strange my work car (police car) just has Crown Vic on the trunk. I checked the other cars at the storage lot and all just had Crown Vic on the trunk also...:( I showed it to Marauderman and we both were scratching our heads about it. I Like the PI badge a lot better....

All the P71s which are not Street Appearance Package have the PI badge... The Street appearance package has a chrome grille...and body color inserts on the trunk... The P72 Fleet Model has Crown Victoria on the trunk with the black grill and trunk inserts... right thru 2007... By the way, the 2008s are Job 1 whe week of 7 May 07 Check the vin Mopar Boy and see if in fact your work cars are PI...they may be administrative P72 or the street appearance package PI or even base Crown Vic S P73 or LX or LX Sport P74
The P71,2,3,4 are positions 5 6 7 in the vin...let us know what your work cars are... Thx,, Sample PI Vin 2FAHP71W67X155387 for a 2007...RAM

There's two version of the P71 available, a Police Interceptor with said badging, and a PI "Stealth" model that has normal Crown Victoria LX badging.
It's an option to keep people guess I take it.

I think its going to be the street appearance package model. It has the chrome grill, paint area on the trunk and crown vic logo. I'll check to make sure on Monday when I go back to work and let you all know.
