Hi All,
First off this is my official first message/intro post on MM.net. My name is Adam and I love cars. I have followed the MM since the 2003 version was announced and think the idea behind it to be spot on. A reliable low maintenance luxurious beast, THEY READ MY MIND!!!!
After searching and reading... (I'm not to automotive message boards like rennlist or bimmerforums) I decided I wanted a 2004 MM. After which I called the bank and got pre-approved as my current car appears to be enjoying its sick leave.
My search has lead me to a black 04 MM with <20000 miles. However the car is in Cali. and I have never seen up close or driven any panther car.
So I was wondering if some one in the area would like to meet tommorow and introduce me to the MM.
I am in the hurst area

Welcome! From one Adam to another.
The leader of the N TX Marauders is based in Hurst.
Goes by Cruzer here at MM.net.
Send him a PM. He is always looking to introduce someone to the MM experience. If the Cali. car does not work out, my 04 may be for sale very soon.
Just over 50K on the ODO but I may be ready to deal!!
Surely there are low mileage 04 MM's for sale closer to you than California.
Check the classifieds and community forum on this site.
If you wish to become a member of the North Texas Marauders send me a PM with name, and e-mail address and we can enroll you.

If you are buying one soon, contact TXMARAUDER in Ft Worth who has been trying to sell that nice Trilogy for a while now. A great looking car!

Well the car in CA is a Salvage thats been rebuilt however the pictures look good. And they are asking 19500.
My problem buying one of these cars comes from my bank who looks at NADA private party value even when buying at a dealer which isn't rated for nearly what these cars sell for.
Case in point before knowing that this car was salvage title I was allotted 17100 in credit for it.('04 5800 miles)
Another comes in the form of an extended warranty plan I'd like to get that limits me to a car with <50k on the odometer.
couple that with my own OCD about the dual knock sensors and 4R75W transmission of the '04 and this seemed like the only option now gone.
I have before and after pics of the car I am going to try to post. They look so good I wanna run away. Definatly suspicous

I would keep looking. I ran the VIN and (regarless of miles) there is no warranty. It has been cancelled by Ford. Plus, I remember this one being on Ebay a year or so ago.

Salvage?
Stay away from that deal like a steer from a branding iron.
Check the classifieds here on MM.net and I'm sure you'll find what you need and know that it's been WELL taken care of.

I had my heart set on a black '04 and at the same time I'm trying to stay away from snowbelt cars cause a close friend of mine who does the buying and values for my local carmax said he road salts still cause trouble even these days. suspension, exaust, and break hardware rusts is what he said.
Either way the SALVAGE car is OUT they tried treated me like I was stupid. I wouldn't buy it now if it was the only one made.

Don't get too wrapped up in Blue Book pricing. The Blue Books are aimed at banks and are not very useful for limited production vehicles. The important thing to remember is that anything is only worth what someone will pay for it

I wouldn't worry as much about a salt belt Marauder as you might over another car. Many of us put our Marauders away in the winter. I know of a few that aren't even driven in the rain. If you have it inspected by a pro you will know if there are any salt issues.
Check http://www.automobileinspections.com/, I know some people who have been satisfied with thier service.

Car with salvage title is very risky. loses its resale and most financing companies will not approve financing it.
