¿ 28, 31 splines ?

:confused: Hello Marauderers many times I have read about the axles 28 or 31 splines so here I post a list of doubts for the prompt answers.

1-¿What is the difference between 28 or 31 splines?

2-¿What is splines?

3-¿Which splines come stock on my 2003 MGMQ?

2-¿What is splines?IN this context - Spline count is reffering to the number of 'teeth' on the axle shaft (s) where it slides into the side gear.

28 spline means 28 'teeth' on each axle shaft's end, and side gear opening.
31 is obviously 3 more teeth - but in addition the 31 spline axles are thicker -- more strength.


3-¿Which splines come stock on my 2003 MGMQ?Like all the other -04 panthers (Marauder and CVPI included), you have a 28 spline.

The only -04 panthers to get a 31 spline rear axles were Limo package Town Cars.

For 2005+, all panthers recieved a 31 spline rear axle.

Mustang Cobras also got 31 spline axles, while the GTs got 28 spline axles until the 2005 MY. All 05-up S197 GTs received 31 spline axles.

31 spine axles are thicker.... thicker means stronger.
