300A's are the 'early' ones and 300B's are the 'late' ones.......

A's had full size spare, optional Traction Control, remote fuel door, clock in dash trim(not radio)

B's had mini spare, T/C standard, clock in radio...............

B's also offered you heated seats!

A's also have map pockets in front seats.

"A's" also COST a helluva lot more...when they were released.

TC was not an option on 300A's - the only options were a 6-CD changer and the trunk organiser.

There were 'early' A's and later A's before the 'B' designate came into being.
NO 'A' had or offered TC...or heated seats.
The clock/radio combo was a late 'A'.
All 'A's' had the full sized spare.
Options were CD and Trunk org.

And of course...any color of Black.

VIN's are the ONLY true source of how each vehicle was OEM equipped...that is a matter of record.

The Marauders are like snowflakes, no two are the same. The main difference as stated above is the Traction Control that is on the 300B.

I got an "A". I had to search for it but found it for 27K in February of 2003. I did not want traction control as I feel I can drive in situations better myself (didn't need a machine). I also wanted full size spare and heated seats don't make a lot of sense in Georgia. GO "A's"

Just reading through this thread, and I went back and checked my window sticker for my 300A MM, it states it does have traction control? I was also under the impression that the 300A's didn't have it? My dealer was less than informative when I inquired about it as well.

You sure it says traction control and not "trac-loc" ?

Do you have another switch right next to your pedal height adjustment switch? If not, then you don't have traction control...

My MM has clock in dash trim (not in radio), full sized spare, CD changer, Traction Control 9 (switch in dash), Map Pockets in the seats, remote fuel door lock (in door panel), so it seems like it is an "A" with Traction Control. Hi All my first post....

Hi Kenny, welcome!

Sounds like you have an early 300B. Take a look on your window sticker.

Are you sure you have a full size spare? The 300B spare is still an 18" wheel, but the 300A full size is an unpolished Marauder wheel with a tire the same as a front tire.

Kenny - Welcome . Several members of this board have decontented 300B MM',s and they all have a mini spare tire. Yours seems to be an all time first. Good luck with your new ride.

Hey buddy, how ya gettin on?

No, our Canadian Models were 300Ac's Coined: <a href='http://www.mercurymarauder.net/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=2614&highlight=300ac'>here</a>
by TTA.

The Canadian 300A's all had traction control, map pockets on the front seats, small spare, trunk organizer and CD changer standard.

The only options are the interior colour and heated seats. Supposedly the colour of the car black vs blue, but the only time I've ever seen a blue model was at a car show.

I test drove a blue one with very low mileage. Drove VERY nicely, better than my black one did at the same mileage. But it's gotten MUCH MUCH better since then... (insert evil laugh)

Here's a wrench to throw into your first statement quoted above: my 300Ac does not have the front seat pockets. Neither did the blue one. Nor the 1st black one I test drove.

Also, the very first 300Ac I looked at (and ultimately rejected after a long decision process) had the pockets, the remote door release, and I can't remember if it had traction control or not, but definitely not heated seats.

So the moral of this story is that even in Canada, there were two "300A"s ... how's THAT for confusing??

By the way, good to see yet another Canadian on the board, Murray! I believe we deserve our own 'regional' folder on the message board, at this point!

Kenny , was the build date around early November '02??? Mine says 300B--has traction control, seat pockets, dash clock, gas lock and small spare--seems a few were made this way--also, my traction control was listed as standard equipment, not an option

Cruzer, I checked my spare, I thought it was a full size by the size/shape, but after pullling off the cover I found it was a space saver after all just as RC had suggested... as for the build date I am not sure, I am away from the car....I had to fly off to Baton Rouge for a week of work, while my wife took the Marauder on a road trip...how's that for a sob story!!!

You have the best of both worlds. A 300B with all the 300A goodies except the full size spare. I still think the mini spare has somet-hing to do with the traction control.

Not in the market for computer books but if you know of a good speed shop east of Montreal I sure would be interested. Great to hear from Alberta (gettin on good bye) and Quebec.:)

Yup. It appears there are two 300Ac's. Mine has the pockets, remote release, TC, full size spare (stolen out of my CV for the summer :-) )

All dealers in my area got the same allotment of cars - I checked them all out. They each got 4 cars, 2 light flint interiors with heated seats, 2 dark charcoal interior without heated seats. All were black, had the CD 6 pack and trunk organizer and bicycle tire spare.

The dealer I bought mine from sold 1 to the wife of one of the salesmen, mine, and still have the other two on the lot.

And welcome Murray! Good on ya skipper! I've only been here 3 months, but it's been a great ride so far!

If you want links to all kinds of things, PM me!

How can you use the full-size spare tire from a Crown Vic
which has 16" wheels? on the Marauder which is 18" wheels?
What am I missing here? Maybe the wheels the same
up north....?

TripleTransAm

All the car really cares about is the overall wheel/tire diameter. You can have a 16 inch wheel with a really tall sidewall or an 18 inch wheel with a real small sidewall, and it will rotate at the exact same rotational speed for a car's given speed.

Traditionally, spare tires are shorter (in order to save trunk space) so there is a difference in rotational speed. Up front it's not much of a problem (I can't say if traction control will go nuts with this difference, though) but on the rear, it can causes problems for cars with limited-slip differentials. That's why they suggest keeping speeds low and distances short, when driving on the spare. Otherwise, the limited-slip unit's internal clutches will get chewed up, since the diff thinks you're always turning (one axle rotating faster than the other because of the shorter tire).

Invoice sticker has model information on it, it will say which model it is.

The wheels + tire are the same height and offset as the MM, which brings up another point - I'm going to have to check that the wheel clears the MM's calipers.... :bigcry:

OY! good point! I didn't think about the caliper clearance with a smaller rim. However, isn't the "MM winter package" wheel a 16 inch unit?
