Having bought my car 3 years ago on January 24, I took my car in to have a number of issues checked. Most major to me was a slight knocking noise that started around 1000 miles, and has increased over the life of the car. I took the car in to my local dealer for that last check up and to get several things fixed. On the engine noise issue, my local dealer has told me over the last 3 years everything from "we can't hear it", to "we can hear something, but Ford won't authorize to open up the engine", to, finally "if the noise makes you uncomfortable, maybe you should just sell the car". They did fix several things, including my front passenger window motor. I also complained about rear end noise, mostly as a precaution since mine is a June 02 build. They did nothing on that.
I took the car to Tipton Ford in Nacogdoches last week. Both the service advisor and service manager rode with me and heard the noise. I left the car with them, and they went to work. For the engine noise, they at least took the valve covers off and retorqued the cam retaining bolts, and they said that seemed to quieten the noise down. They are repainting the door molding on one of my passenger doors where it started flaking. They also put new axles, bearings, and gears in my rear end. They said that there was a lot of metal in the rear end fluid.
It's nice to get customer service somewhere. It would be nice if all the dealerships would handle their service this way. BTW, I didn't buy the car at either of the dealerships - it was bought 800 miles away, but neither dealership ever had a Marauder in when they were new.
