Hi guys, I just noticed that my newly acquired 2003 300A makes creaking/popping sounds from the front right suspension when the wheel is turned to full lock to the left. The sounds continue if you drive with the wheel at full lock. Turning to the right full lock willl also make some of the sounds but not as much. Any ideas before I trust the dealer to find it? I see in my OASIS report that there was a complaint of suspension creaking a while ago, I have no idea if this was ever truly resolved and/or if this is the same sound I am hearing.

The steering stops may need lubrication.

I had the same type of click about a year ago that drove me nuts. A alignment solved my issue.

I just had an alignment and the sound seems to be way worse. It could just be the unusually cold weather though. It's not the steering stops, the sound occurs periodically as you pull forward with the wheel turned. It doesn't have to be full locked, although the sound is loudest at full lock.

I would pull out of my complex, make a right and then a left and I would hear either a clunk or a pop.
I put my car on a lift and went through every rubber part of the suspension and couldnt find anything that could replicate the sound. Only the alignment seemed to help me out.
If you had the alignment and the sound is louder, then something has to be worn out underneth.
Have you tried taking a wheel off, turn the wheel, and try to listen for any sounds??

If you turn the steering while the car is not moving it is quiet. I am just going to have to send it in to the dealer for this. So far not so reliable. Awesome!

The problem was not the steering stops but a loose camber adjuster, due to the idiot who just aligned the car being, well, and idiot. He had tightened the camber bolt to about 70 ft lbs. It should have been 160 something. tightened to spec and no more noise. Sounds like something in the suspension was walking with the bolt not tight enough. Time for another $100 alignment somewhere else.

Wish you were here in NY, I would direct you to my guy who is much cheaper and does great work.
I guess that explained why I couldnt find the noise in my car and it went away after the alignment.

Thats the creaking i was telling you about yesterday. I'm gonna try and lube up the stops to see if that solves the issue. I just had an alignment work done 2 days ago...It didnt get any worse, but it definatly didnt get any better.

Slack in the steering wheel caused the problem you speak of on your car Paul. I had that same noise you spoke about, and went away when the alignment was done. Tighter steering = No more left to right clunk.
