View Full Version : Trilogy Motorsports says Good-Bye to MM.net
Jerry Barnes
02-16-2007, 08:09 PM
Ladies and Gentlemen,
I want to let everyone know that Trilogy Motorsports will cease participation in Mercurymarauder.net as soon as the new owners can address some deactivation issues for me. I have a lot of friends here and will miss the good times we have all had together. It is not easy leaving a place that I have hung-out for years and had a great deal of fun. But, with the changes in the ownership of the site, a not so friendly business environment and recent events banning other members, have prompted Trilogy Motorsports examine the value of future participation.
Our goal is to be a valued sponsor and supporter of sites like this one. It is also important that we participate in forums that are geared to having fun and promoting our products. We want to be actively involved in forums that are interested in automotive performance events with good friends. We feel that our presence in MM.Net brings more controversy then it does enjoyment and meaningful information exchange. That could be our fault, it's hard to tell at times, but we seem to be a lightning rod for web wars. I am personally tired of causing the problem or participating in the problem. I just know that we don't like to feel that we have to defend ourselves, when we only wanted to provide a good product to customers and subsequently our close friends.
All of that seems to be slipping away quickly for Trilogy Motorsports and its participation on the site, so its time for us to take actions to fix it from our prospective.
We will be active on some other sites and we will start our own VBulletin Board in the near future. We have discussed doing this for several months and recent events have prompted us to move our plans up in timing.
I want to thank all of our customers and friends on MM.Net. We look forward to seeing many of you at upcoming Marauder events.
Once again, thanks for all of the support and friendship!!!

Jerry,
You are truly a class act. It was a pleasure meeting you a month ago and I'm glad I know where to find you... no matter if I'm driving a Mercury or a mouse. MM.net just dropped a cylinder.
Now... it will be interesting to see if MM.net archives you or simply deletes history.
No matter, you keep writing history and we'll all try to keep up with you!
Hammer down JB... and thanks for making my Marauder quicker than one of them-there Lamburgheenii Coutaches!

I have lost a great deal of passion for what once was almost like an obsession, hanging out with my MM. friends. People that I consider friends are at each others throats, no respect, no forgiveness. Everybody believes they are right and the other guy is wrong, nobody backs down 'cause it's not manly.
I will withdraw from participation, it doesn't mean I won't read sometimes, it don't mean I wont' post sometimes. This whole mess turns my stomach and I just don't enjoy it anymore.

Jerry, I have never met you personally but I know you are a gentleman to the bone. I fell in love with the Trilogy before I even bought my Marauder Your website is where I found Claude (CarFixer) and my future purchase for my Marauder. I have met some of my closest friends here on MM.net and even though you're leaving - you are still a friend. On a sidenote, I have never spend 6 large on a performance add-on but I am about to. I pray that the price for the Trilogy does not go up even 20 bucks. I have budgeted JUST enough to buy one really soon.

I was then sad to see Members made to leave.
I am now sad to see such an important part of the Marauder's History, and community leave. And it seems other Members are leaving as well.
Do what you got to folks, but everyone leaving is NOT the answer.
Anyone here have a best friend? Do you ALWAYS agree? Ever get into arguments? Ever have disagreements? In the end, once the smoke clears...you are still friends. That is the way I feel about this Community. I consider just about EVERYONE here a friend.

Steve, it sure must be more than that then right? There must be a deeper more hurtful reason. The majority of us are adults and have had enough experience to know such things.
Jerry certainly would not "cut his nose off to spite his face". He has done much to promote the cars and the site here. He has done alot of business here. Being the businessman he is, a good one, it's ridiculus to think that simple disagreemnets would prompt him to leave. THERE HAS TO BE MORE TO IT!
Kinda like coming home early from work and finding your best friend banging your wife. That would end a friendship, wouldn't it? Or is that just a "disagreemnet and a misunderstanding"?
Yes it is sad. But it was avoidable.

I am sure there is. I do not know the extent of it. I am sure MOST here do not. Not all of us have been here since the site began, so, we do not REALLY know what has occurred in the past.

What I do know, is that in the here and now.... there MUST be a better way.

Jerry: I don't own your product (yet). A dime has never changed hands between us (yet). But, I do feel that your absence here will be a great loss to the community. At least I know where to find you my friend.
I don't need to point out that this site has taken a nose dive over the last few months. Most of the old-timers/contributors are gone, either having been chased off, run off, or left on their own for greener pastures.
This place is now populated heavily with "second generation" owners. Not a bad thing in itself. It's just unfortunate that they will not come to appreciate how big your contribution to this site, the car, and many friends you have been.
Jerry, I have always respected you, I still respect you, and I support your decision.

Jerry,
It is sad to see a vendor such as your self leave due to "Shenanigans" caused by other members. Though I do not own your S/C I plan on in the near future, heck I even went to Dearborn a month ago to visit, but unfortunately I got lost finding your building and by the time I was there you had been closed . . .
This web site is losing contributing members and vendors, due to the fact "some" vendors don’t like healthy competition. Jerry’s I wish you best of luck to you, and your business . . . I’ll be making a PM on the other site shortly.

All of our vendors are very valued here. Trilogy and Jerry have been very supportive of the endeavors of MercuryMarauder.Net since the early days. Trilogy and Jerry have also been very successful with the sales of their products through MercuryMarauder.net.
We understand that vendors must evaluate and make decisions about supporting any website. We've said goodbye to Kenny Brown, DynoPro and Amazon Tuning Solutions, and now Trilogy is saying goodbye. The owners and the membership are disappointed in Jerry's decision to move on, but we accept the fact that Trilogy has made a difficult business decision.
Please contact BigDog or myself about the "deactivation issues" you mention.
Thank you, again, Jerry, for your valued sponsorship and membership.

Just so you all know: I'm likely not going anywhere. I love listening to the excellent technical advice and tips as well as the unrelated stories. The BS gets filtered in one ear and out the other. I don't play politics, I play with cars. I've corresponded with a number of folks here and have a pretty good idea whose opinions I value and whose I don't. I wouldn't leave and miss the opportunity to keep up with my fellow MM'ers. Imagine - Canadians and Americans all on the same page! We SHOULD be a shining example of how people can get along! :)
BTW, I'm a first generation owner who simply came late to the site. But as the saying goes: Better Later Than Never.

Life goes on and with life things change. The Marauder market is very limited, those that want to get a Trilogy will know where to go to get one and get it installed. I totally disagree with Marty on his statement that the site has gone down hill over th last few months. I believe the site is better than ever. Look at the numer of posts, responses compared to the other site. Not even close.
LIke any community there are poltics, clicks, people who bad mouth others with lies (comments made of me by a Trilogy installer which were absolute total lies on what he alleged I said at MV IV and elsewhere), make up stories to better their postion and just the type of things and egos that happen in any group. Myself and the other commitee members who worked on MV IV spend 100's of hour of their own time, money and effort to make it happen. In addition considerable time was spent on the MV DVD's to which people applauded our efforts on this site, by phone, e-mails and PM's. It was a rewarding experience and if needed, I would do it again. Some people used my efforts against me, which is sad as I never had an agenda. Those that know me know that. Others, oh well........agaiin, life goes on.
The MM.NET faithful will remain here. Yes a small number of people have left and gone to the other site and that is fine. If others decide to go, best of luck to you as well. I totally support MM.NET, the owners, the people here, my good friends (who I met here) and will continue to enjoy myself here every day. It is the first and only website I have ever participated in on a daily basis.
Best of luck to you Jerry, regardless of what you have been probably told (which are lies) I continue to repsect you, your company and your fine S/C the Trilogy. You have made a significant contribution to the Marauder community and you will never be forgotten. Best of luck with your company and future projects.
Respectfully yours, TOM
I'm at a loss to understand what's happening between vendor's,owners and members. I feel like I came during the middle of a movie.
If there is a historian on the site maybe the full story will someday be published.
I do have enough knowledge from viewing the public posts that Trilogy and Jerry are held in high esteem and their participation will be missed.
Of course their products will be marketed on other venues, but I did enjoy the one stop shopping and techical discussions.
Saddened to see Trilogy leave  .
Long live the Marauder  .
Pat
As a newbie, I don't have much of a clue as to what is going on here. It's kinda like walking into a movie halfway thru the screening. But as a business owner, I know that every once in a while you have to asses your situation. You have to look at how much you are spending, both in time and dollars. And what the return is on that time and money spent. And you have to look at all your options and make sure that you are getting the biggest bang for your buck. I'm hoping that Trilogy is leaving to pursue greener pastures, and not because of ill feelings. That's part of doing business, and oftentimes, it's a very tough decision to have to make.
I enjoy this board and am learning a lot. I hope we don't have too much of a "brain drain" before it's all over. I wish Trilogy the best, and I wish the mods of this board the best, as well. I'm looking forward to many good years here, as I intend to keep my Marauder forever.

Tom,
No one has ever said a bad word about you to me, so I am comfortable that we are friends and it will stay that way. As for others opinions. I always make my own opinions about people, face to face. I try very hard to treat people with respect and hope they do the same for me.
MM.Net will continue, with or without me. I feel that a few people have continued to hide behind their keyboards and done nothing but slung **** my way. That's O.K., but I don't need to stick around if I feel I am in an enemy camp. I don't see the issues being raised with the other vendors and that is pretty noticable. The are a few, and I will repeat, a few dip*****s here. They know who they are, as I do. They will continue to shoot off there mouths, because they are protected.
I have many, many, many friends at this site and I will make every effort to stay in touch with my friends. Believe me, it bothers me to leave, as much as it may bother others, but the hand writing is on the wall and its time to move on.
I do plan on attending the Marauder events, when I can make it. I will not make it to Florida for the season openers this years, both engines I am having built will not be done. And I am still hunting for my good friend Marty. He has given me a tough goal, but I am trying to stay competitive with him.
I have enjoyed the good times and the fights. Remember the biggest threads have been the knock down, drag out fights. And I have enjoyed them like everyone else.
And for the *********s, and you know who you are, I sold 2 more kits this week! As far as new developments :
IAT2 sensor is being implemented soon.
Twin Screw S/C will be here soon.
The Trilogy Twin Screw Mustang kit is almost done.
We are moving to a larger building with Garage facilites and a shop. And maybe a dyno.
We are working on the plan for the HEMI S/C.
Our new Bulletin Board site will be up soon.
And Tom, I hope you come to Michiagn soon and allow me to show you some good ol' Michigan hospitality! Be sure to bring ear muffs!

I am a Sales Manager by profession. I rely alot on 1st impressions. I met Jerry once back at the Heavyweight Shootout @ Commerce last year.
Very nice guy, no ego, lots of integrity, with a passion for his business and quality speed(Going fast, properly and prepared). This was my first impression.......
As first impressions go in my book, you cannot do too much better. Couple that with the fact that everyone I know, who knows Jerry or has done business with him, holds him in high regard tells me all I need to know about the man his mission and how he does business.
For that, when I get ready to supercharge my Marauder, it will be a Trilogy regardless of what websites are supported by Trilogy. I will only do business with a man/company that does not compromise foundational ethics (Honor integrity, intelligence, concern for reputation, and genuine care and concern) at the expense of his customers.
Jerry Barnes/Trilogy is a person I will do business with. Twin screw is different from a roots. The roots has two rotors which trap air between the rotor and the case to force the air into the intake manifold. Twin screw has two interlocking, spiral rotors which trap air between the rotors and compress the air between the rotors before forcing it into the intake manifold. A couple of differences in performance: twin screw has immediate boost which doesn't fall off at high rpm, many times a roots blower has immediate boost which tends to fall off at high rpm. Twin screw doesn't heat up the air charge as much as the roots.

Hate to see anyone leave, but in the future if people want to leave can they just post it and leave their contact info for those that still want it, then lock the thread. Nothing against Jerry, but this thread is stirring up more crap, only in a select few. Then people are posting that they will or will not leave the site or take away their services they have provided probably hoping to hear people tell them to stay. If you are going to leave (Again nothing towards Jerry specifically) then just leave and lock the thread. But dont leave just because of a select few that dont see your point of view. My Trilogy MM is gone but i am still here because of the info i can learn and provide and hopefully when my situation changes i will get another MM.
All the best to everyone no matter what choice they make.

Jerry sad to see you leave here but I understand. I'm glad you were here when I was, then again, with 111 Trilogy Marauders on the road when I bought mine I probably would have caught on as to the magic of the Trilogy blower anyway. :)
I'm not fit to participate in the rest of any pissing matches, so the best I can say is cheers to Jerry, and I can't imagine why anyone would disagree with that.
Cheers to Jerry!
 ...and another one for continued success with Trilogy, I'll be glad to hear the latest news as you roll out more go-fast goodies.
(By the way on that note, I saw the Roush magnussen blower setup for the '05 Marauder on HorsepowerTV, it's using only an M90 blower and sounds like a pricey kit. I'd love to see them feature your kit when it's out, watch it blow away that one on the dyno!)

Greg,
Let me say, that I spoke to Big Jim 3 weeks ago and told him to deactivate my account, cancel my user i.d. and send my banners back to me. I did not want a lot of fan fair, just to let everyone know I was leaving. Jim asked that I wait until he talk to the other owners, but I told Jim I was going. I am good friends with Jim and we have always got along very well. I owed him that opportunity to talk to the others. He has always treated me fairly. He told me he would get back to me by the weekend. He was busy and did not.
Jim has had a lot of things going on in his personal life and did not have time to get back to me, so I just posted to let everyone know I was departing. Trilogy's departure will not have any affect on MM.Net, it's just a good business decision for me, period.
Whenever they choose to do the deactivation is fine with me. I have already communicated what I would like. Plain and simple.
Thanks
Jerry
