Ok ok, let me explain myself I didn't want to get myself into this these guys were a bunch of serious punks!

It all started when I was leaving Moroso, there was a white Civic ahead of me in line for the left lane. You know the usual, it was a 2000 or so with a huge ass tip the "BAAAAAAAA" sound and he had a "Hybrid" sticker attached to the back of his car. I saw this guy take off in front of me trying to do a burnout and I'm thinking "What a putz!". So I did my quatermile and I run against a Mustang GT. I lost by two tenths but I got a terrible launch. I was only able to get two runs in the whole night and I didn't bother messing with tire pressure so my 60' foot times were way off, whatever.

My problems didn't start until I went home after that run. I ended up tailing that white Civic and a bunch of his ricer friends from the track back across beeline. They all of a sudden decided to drive in formation real slow. It was:

White Civic from before on the right first row
Civic / Red Civic second row
G35 with scratched up bumper / 2000 something blue Celica third row

I didn't really care but then here comes they really asinine part. All five of them slowed down to fourty miles an hour then freaking floored it to 80 mph. Now I wouldn't of minded this if they kept doing 70-80mph but they did this three or four times in a row. Now I know some of thoose punks where walking around before and probally saw my car run at the track and didn't think much of me.

I was keeping right on their tail the whole time trying to pass them. So eventually after the third or forth 'mini' drag race, I forced the Celica ahead of me foward and the G35 to the left of me backed off just enough that I could squeez by and yes, I still signaled by the way when passing the G35 :nono:. Oh it gets better, they tried to floor their cars past me...... TRIED!

So I floored it, flew past them at 90 mph to gain some ground and slowed down. Oh no, it didn't end here by the way. Remeber that white max well coffe can civic I was talking about earlier? All of a sudden from the right lane I hear a loud "BZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ" Followed by a "WOOOOOOSH". That thing had to have been either supercharged or turboed cause no normal ricebanger civic moves that quickly and definitely doesn't produce no "WOOOSH" sound.

So he pulled next to me and was showing off by flooring it then slowing down tempting me. Right after he slowed down I floored it but being at 70 mph, the car launched in third gear and took some time to build up speed. He put his car back in third and started to take me. Well that all changed when he hit fourth, I was passed that thing just a bit over 100 mph then after I got a bit of distance I slowed down back to normal speeds and made a left onto PGA blvd. Next thing I knew, all five of the cars passed doing ricer fly bys. I guess they were going from beeline right to the turnpike but I dunno how to go that way.

Normally this sort of thing would not bother me but I kept pondering to myself, did I really beat that turbo Civic or did he let off and let me pass? I know what some of you think, I thought the same thing too but you put enough boost into even a lawn mower and it will run 13s. I didn't bother to see what that guy's time was when he was ahead of me at that track. Anyway, I'm just glad it is over.

You left out one thing. What was your 1/4 mile time?

Although the MM in stock or slightly modded form is not a quarter-mile, standing-stop burner, it is a formidable highway-speed car even stock! Don't think some forced induction 2.2l has enough torque to overcome the physics of high speed travel. They don't unless extremely modified. Call it a rice-fry and be done thinking about it!

Great story my friend, see you tomorrow!

14.534 and 14.681 at 96.55 and 96.97 respectively. Considering the weather and all, I could of done 14.2 but again, I left the tire pressure at the rears at 32 psi and didn't drop them plus there was an accident on the track and it had to be cleaned up and all. My 60 foot times were 2.366 and 2.514. Both my rts were .202 and under. I just got to learn to launch better. Damn, I suck at launching.

That made my day, thanks Jake! :D Oh Jake, here's a good Crown Vic story you'd like. Some kid my age came up to my car talking smack about my Marauder and then he asks if I was the owner and of course I divulged and such. He claims he has an 03' Sport with kooks, 4.10s, 80 mm MAF with custom intake, under drive pulleys, and tune. You want to know what what time he said his car ran? 14.2! I was like "NO F-ing way!". He said it did and he has the time slip to prove it. You know what though, he said his car was all the way at the front of the line so after my first run, I went searching everywhere for his car and I couldn't find it! Hm........ Something smells fishy here. I know a dude at CV.net ran 14.9 with just kooks on an 03 on an 87 tune with MM airbox and MAF but 14.2 with just 4.10s on top of that and a CAI and u/d pullies? Come on. Maybe but I am a bit skeptical even with a 93 tune.

Some of those riceres will surprise you at the track. I've been beat by a Civic that ran 11.3@130 and some change.

The worst part is - some of those pimply-faced preteens have no idea how to drive. Of course they're "fast" kiddies, they weigh 1800 pounds and have 150HP. There are fast cars, there are cars that can be made to go fast and there are fast MAN CARS. I could not see anyone like us trying to drive a Civic and seem cool. It must be a puberty thing. There are times I will be making great time on the interstate, about 85-95MPH (ask StevenJ during MVIV) and some ricer will try to 'take me' and then turn my intended path into a competition whereas I end up climbing all over the brakes trying to get away from them before they cause a wreck in front of me. BTW, that rice exhaust is called a "fart cannon".

As a technical point, if he had dropped in a new 2.0l VTECH into a 89 or 88 CRX then that would be true but this was a 1998-2000 which weigh about 2700 pounds. It probably had somewhere between 220-270 hp considering it was probably a Garrett turbo 1.8l. All else applies though and Kenny, I've had similar experiences with ricers, beemers, and others who cut off people at the last minute and I only did this cause there was NO ONE else on the road at the time plus I wanted to get the hell away from them. Anyway, I'll beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee seeing you tomorrow! Pun intended! :baaa:

Respectable times. I assume you have every bolt-on but full exhaust?

I don't know. Seems my Marauder got outrun by a few ricers since I've had it.

Other cars too. My brother in laws Grand Prix feels faster. My co workers Maxima felt faster when I rode with him.

I did expect that Dodge Magnum to outrun me though that one time driving home.

and the Chargers.

So I hesitate now from trying to force a showdown anymore on the road. Probably safer that way anyway.

I like the idea of getting some mods, but not sure if thats going to win me any respect on the road.

The only sporty four banger I'll ever consider is one that is on two wheels:flamer: ! Besides, this story is weeks old already.

I'm no fan of ricers, but my friend did have a '90 CRX and put a jackson racing supercharger on it a few years back. He let me drive it once, it felt almost as strong as my '00 Mustang GT that I had at the time(both cars were 5-spd manuals), not quite as much torque off the line, but it would pull hard! This was the first time I had experienced aftermarket forced induction and I am sold that it is the only way to go. BTW - he was smart enough to leave the exhaust alone rather than sound like a coffe can tip typical ricer, instead it was a sleeper...love that supercharger whine!!!

Hah yes ricers can get VERY annoying, but tuned right can be real budget rockets.

I'd love to get a SC but its expensive and Ive been living in California for the last two years and I don't think a supercharger is smog legal. I live in the bay area. What about gas mileage?
