The Ford Racing Performance C-Clip eliminators for the 8.8" rearend are listed as being "not recommended for road racing applications or rear disk brakes". I'm confused. They are mandated for spools and many racing events. How can they not be recommended for the same? Thoughts? Comments?

C-clip eliminators are basically a crush collar on the outboard end of the rear axles vs. a C-clip on the inner end of the axle in the differential.
You have to modify the axle tube ends to install a C-Clip eliminator kit which may interfere with the mounting position of a rear disc brake set-up.
Also the standard C-Clip eliminator crush collars are not designed for high side to side G loads such as encountered in road racing.
If the lateral G load exceeds the crush collar's holding capacity you have a BIG problem!
(I've heard of using TWO crush collars on each axle to withstand high lateral loads...:dunno:)

Interesting. So what is the weaker link? The standard C-Clips which are constantly berated, or the eliminators which state their limitations right off the bat? A cunundrum to be sure.

I don't know, I bought a C-clip eliminator kit for my Mustang GT, then read about the :nono: for high lateral loads and said...WTF?
I know that the C-Clip kits are great for drag racing and required in many cases.
I don't road race, so maybe someone can chime in on this discussion...Wesman? you out there?
(BTW: I still have the 8.8" Moser C-Clip kit sitting in a box on my storage shelves.:( )

Here's my take on it...
Eliminators are required for drag racing because of the risks associated with broken axles walking out of the axle tubes. Case in point: Marty's car at SSHS6. Drag racing doesn't have high side loads so the axles won't slide out of the collars. For road racing I would imagine the c-clips are better. In addition to this functionality difference, the space issue may prevent fitment of ABS trigger rings and emergency brake mechanisms. This probably means they shouldn't be used for the street either. The only other option I can think of would be to convert to 9" axle tubes or ends.

Well, there you go then. No eliminators for me. I like cornering far too much. The 31 spliners will be going in around the time I go forced induction, so we'll be strong on that end at least.

Why would anyone want to eliminate those? They're just right!
