Check his "vote" in the poll. He needs to talk to his better half (3/4??) more often. Heck, he can crawl to Hagerstown and be there before 9 AM.

Hmmm. 1850km. Would love to go but its quite a trip. As a real out-of-towner, are there going to be opportunities to partake in both MM events AND some sort of interesting site seeing tours? I'd love to hit the highlights - museums, government, historical buildings, etc?

Master,
I know Charlie's PM probably did a good job of answering your question but it may look to the group that nobody responded. Just want to add that I concur with what Charlie mentioned in his response. Although there is some "Free Time" purposely built in to the schedule (see schedule post) for seeing the sights you choose, I'd recommend for anyone not local to take as much time as you can afford to take in all the area has to offer. Over the next few weeks, we'll be adding links to help you plan your time in the Capital region.

There is some time after the photo shoot to take in the National Mall. The mall is packed with museums, historical buildings, the Capital, etc. There is a bus loop that stops at each building every 10 minutes. The cost is $2.00 and it runs all day. I usually just walk. There is way too much to see in one day.

And I'm working on an event too.

Ya'll make sure your tires, brakes and cooling systems are in good order.

I am not sure if I'll be there for the Wednesday - Friday morning part - I need to work that out with work. With Woodward, SSHS, training, and other family leave I have in... I'll be off more than at work!! (I dont know who I'm kiddin, I'll be there... dont tell the boss ;) )

Your sence of smell is good. Your sence of location is not :( . They are booked that weekend. If we wanted to run there (..and that is recommended), we'd have to bump the dates. Not likely

Just voted: "Wouldn't Miss it, dirving >1500 miles". My plan is to be there, though I haven't exactly booked a weekend or anything. I'd love to visit relatives all week long and finish up at the event. This is The Plan. Fingers crossed all goes according to The Plan! Would really like to see some Canucks make it down, too, by the way. Hint hint!

Many have left, but even more of us are in both places. Those with sense get the best from both and enjoy everything they can, let the rest roll off like water from a duck's back.

Way to represent our northern members from Canada! I hope more decide to make the trip. Growing up in Hollywood Florida, I've seen first hand that many of your countrymen love to drive south on vacation. The events and the comaraderie should be worth the trip.

How do you change your vote in a poll?

I'm in the "Don't Know Yet." camp, but I'm doing my research and things are looking good!

If it will help the organization, I'd like to put my hat in the No Miss/< 500 mile pool.

Just got a few more details to look into...

Thanks!

Well so far we have by my count:
42 members attending
31 maybe's
31 can't make it/no's

And a whole lot of folks that haven't posted up yet. It's shaping up to be a lot of fun. I know it seems like a long way off but please take a moment to post your intentions. It will certainly help us plan and may even get your wheels in motion and start seriously thinking about getting on the road to DC this summer.

When is this happening?

Methinks it might be too far away, plus it would take me 6 weeks to get my passport renewed.

http://maps.yahoo.com/broadband#mvt=m&q2=Hagerstown,%20MD&q1=calgary,%20ab&trf=0&lon=-95.932617&lat=45.367585&mag=14

2230.3miles one way. 34 hours 5 minutes without any delays.

Now if Topgear was attending, I still probably wouldn't make it. Although it might be a fun trip. Especially if we could get a convoy of all the Maple leaf Marauders...

Master
05-30-2007, 03:32 AM
Man, do NOT send your renewal to Ottawa. Go in person to an ACTUAL passport office, NOT a receiving office (they just forward your application to Ottawa). Go to the government website to ensure you know the location of your paassport office.
If you send the passport to Ottawa or a receiving office, you are looking at 10-12 weeks turnaround. If you go to your local office, you are looking at 2-3 weeks.
Please, do not waste your time with Ottawa. They are a mess and only getting worse. Field offices have it together and are filled with knowledgeable and helpful staff.
Hope this helps!
