I did a search but wasnt able to find an answer, so I'm sorry if this has already been discussed.
Does anyone have any figures on how many vehicles have been produced on the panther platform (GM, CV, MM, TC, etc) over the years? Just curious and looking to find some more history on the panther. Thanks!

We have had a hard time just keeping up with the Marauder on this site ... Figures on MM production was 11,052 total for the '03-'04 run. Details here >>>> http://www.mercurymarauder.net/forums/showthread.php?t=14785
Maybe someone else here can point you in the right direction to get CV, GM and TC numbers. From a fleet perspective, it's gotta be in the hundreds of thousands (maybe 500,000 or more). Good luck in finding the answers.

The Canadian production numbers are about 90% of the US number.

When was the introduction of the panther? Has it been on any models besides the Vic, GM, MM and towncar?
My search continues for the total production numbers....

I believe the Panther was devoloped in 1979. I know STAP has been making them since 1983 (year I was born). That's a lot of Panthers.

Does anyone know how to find out how rare their own car is? Like how many were black, how many 300A's, how many had the black interior, right down to the options?

Production numbers for the Mercury Marauder:
2003 - 7839 (328 Blue, 417 Silver, rest black .. 7094)
2004 - 3213 (980 DTR, 997 Silver, 1236 Black)
Total production, 03 and 04 was 11,052
For the 300As, they were ALL rolled into the 7094 black MMs produced in 2003. The Blue and Silver were all 300Bs.
And with attrition (being totalled out), the total number still drinking gas are well below the 11,000 mark.

Panther platform debuted for 1979 model year
Lincoln Continental Mark VI (1980–1983)
Ford Crown Victoria (1992–Present)
Ford LTD (1979–1982)
Ford LTD Crown Victoria (1983–1991)
Mercury Grand Marquis (1983–Present)
Mercury Marauder (2003–2004)
Mercury Marquis (1979–1982)
Lincoln Town Car (1981–Present)All Marauders where built in Canada. 470 Marauders were built for Canadian use (Metric instrumentation, DRLs standard)
Given the longevity of the platform, and it's popularity among fleets (Town Car for Limos, CV for Police/Taxi, GMQ) I would not be suprised the total count to be WELL in excess of one million units.

...if they made 100,000/year X 28 years = 2,800,000 over-all total.

Vehicles that have used the Panther platform include:
Lincoln Continental Mark VI (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lincoln_Mark) (1980–1983)
Ford Crown Victoria (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_Crown_Victoria) (1992–Present)
Ford LTD (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_LTD) (1979–1982)
Ford LTD Crown Victoria (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_LTD_Crown_Victoria) (1983–1991)
Mercury Grand Marquis (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mercury_Grand_Marquis) (1983–Present)
Mercury Marauder (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mercury_Marauder) (2003–2004)
Mercury Marquis (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mercury_Marquis) (1979–1982)
Lincoln Town Car (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lincoln_Town_Car) (1981–Present)
The Aston Martin (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aston_Martin) Lagonda Vignale concept of 1995 also used a modified Panther platform.
in almost 30 years of production, I would imagine better than 10 million. in the box years, ford advertised, and people responded accordingly...
