That is one sweet car! The wheels are perfect for it. Could use a rear wing from a Marauder. The white is fresh and simple.

That's one sweet CV.

OASN: I'd take the grill and have it painted all white for the monochromatic look.

Dial Up Warning. Man, how did you get the MM lights to fit in along with the grille? I thought you needed an MM bumper to get those in there along with an MM header panel?

LOOK CLOSELY at the pictures.
The bumper is the same CV bumper.
The header panel looks like it was CUT to allow room for the headlights.
Our Grille doesn't need the lower half of the header lip to mount up.
The GM Front Bumper cover is sculpted to remove the gaps
left by the CV Front Bumper cover.

NICE JOB !!!

I know it had to be a CV just by looking at the rear bumper cover.
The GM Rear Bumper is too different to be that close
to a Marauder Bumper cover.

I did have to buy a MM header panel, but the CV bumper does fit. I also bought a MM bumper cover but haven't had it painted yet.

I didn't cut, but Im sure that would work. I don't know if it would look stock

No, I asked him in his other thread because I said they resemble Bullitt rims and/or American Racing Torque Thrust's, and he said they're Bullitt like ones off eBay.

2002?? Either someone did a VIN swap on that car, or someone went through a LOT of trouble to make a 2002 CVPI look like a 98/99. That car has 98/99 taillights, rear trim, front grille, bumper inserts, and 2001 and up CVPIs have PI motors. Your car also has the non-rolled rear wheel well lips, which was 98-00 only.

If someone sold you that car as a 2002, you got duped.

Im not an expert, but the sticker on the inside of the door says January 02. Also I bought it from the ford dealership so I highly doubt that.

The drivers door on my CVPI has been changed at one point in time and doesn't match the car's real VIN.

BTW, it's still a really nice car, I just don't think it's a 2002. Everything on the car points to 98/99.

Sal, This one has the Street appearance package which includes the chrome on the grille, bumper fillers, handle surround, and tailights. The applique is also chrome, is color keyed and has the Crown Victoria emblem instead of the Police Interceptor. It also has the MM like side moldings. Wheelcovers are also standard with this group. However, NO CVPI ever came with the keypad on the driver's door.

Big Body, As for the OASIS report, PM with the VIN and help you there.

I'm aware of the civilian street package for the later cars. But he's got the amber turn signal in the lense, which was 98-99 only. He also said he has a non-PI car, which was pre-01. And, his car has the fat rear wheel well lips (like my car does) which was done away with for 01.

Running his VIN is useless, because if the car is VINed wrong, you're still running an 02 VIN.

I'm going to check out my 00 and see if I can find the VIN in other spots, to check against his car.

Looks like I may have been mistaken on a few things. When he said it was an 02 "non pi" car, I thought he meant non pi as in motor, but now I am thinking he meant non police interceptor. If that's the case, it probably is an 02 car. The tail lights were throwing me off, but after checking a few things is seems they kept the amber turn signals for the chrome trim tails. I've got him getting me some pics and more info, so we can make sure.

Sorry to make a big deal out of it, but I can tell you that if I had bought a car that was supposed to be one year, and someone said it might be a different year, I'd sure like to know about it. No harm in doing some checking.

All 01+ have PI engines, not just CVPI for those who may have read that wrong.

Rolled rear fender lips were a 02<>03 change NOT 00<>01

It is most likely a p74 - notice the keypad which was/is not available on Street Appearance Package p71s, and rarely seen on p73s

Also, notice the rear package shelf has the child seat tether anchors - this lets you know immediately it is at minimum a 2000
In addition, the car has the remote fuel filler door release, which became standard again for 2001

This is the second time I've seen you jump all over someone about the year of their car with incorrect information, Sal.....

And correct me if I am wrong but the GMQ does not share the same style tail lights as the Marauder...only the Crown Vic does right? The GMQ has smooth lights and the Crown vic has the ribbed action?Yes, the Marauder has tinted CV tailights (with Monochromatic trim, ala LX Sport)

Well, I didn't mean to "jump" on the guy. Was just pointing out what I saw odd with the situation. For some reason I thought he converted a CVPI, not a standard issue CV.

Most of the info on differences and such, I get from these forums and CV websites. I guess there's a lot of bad info out there.

My apologies.

P73 would be a base model Crown Vic.

I think it's: P71 - CVPI, P72 -fleet vehicle (available with some CVPI stuff), P73 - base CV, P74 - LX Sport.

Of course if I am wrong, I am sure Drock will yell at me.

RoyLPita
02-27-2007, 09:51 AM
P74 can be just the LX. P70 is the extended Commercial Heavy Duty (taxi). CVs for 2002 were kinda rare because they were only made for 1/2 a year.

Interesting trivia: Did you know that P70 and P72 CVs in NY can get rear a/c?

I think it's: P71 - CVPI, P72 -fleet vehicle (available with some CVPI stuff), P73 - base CV, P74 - LX Sport. Like Roy said, p74 is used for standard LX as well. The LX Sport does not receive a special vin designation.

p72 is fleet, however prior to the 1992 model year p72 was used for the Police Package as well. The CVPI received the p71 model number for 1992+
The p72 can still be ordered with the "Police Equipment package," however.

There is also the p75, which was a 1992 model only (CV Touring Sedan)

<!-- / message --><!-- controls --> Of course if I am wrong, I am sure Drock will yell at me.:P I did not yell at you, I felt you were getting a little harsh on the guy - that is all.
You had good intentions.

Interesting trivia: Did you know that P70 and P72 CVs in NY can get rear a/c?Yup. It uses a 98+ Town Car center console w/ the dual vents, with a small switch panel mounted on the back with green backlit rocker switches.

Quick Question: Is it really a "Badgeless Grille" or a photoshopped grille? No offence. Its just that every way I look at the first oblique photo I keep getting odd pixellation right in the centre of the grille, and in just the form of our gods-head logo. Maybe its just my imagination, though. Anybody?
PS
I'm on day three of a wicked chest cold and my body is rife with homeopathic antidotes, so I wouldn't be surprised if I saw Jesus in the grille.
