I had a great time hanging out with the Reinharts this weekend. We installed the D2 unit he bought from John. It was nice having the shop to work in. As usual, thanks Dennis and Sheila for your hospitality and thanks Edwin for the help.

Here's the link to the SSM info page. Under Electronics find Avic-D2 Install.

When we were all done, we burned MP3 CD's and listened to SIRIUS. Dennis already had Infinity speakers installed, so it sounded GREAT. (Well, as great as that old 70's music can sound!)

There may be a reverse camera and subwoofer install in the future. Who knows?

Important safety note:

It has been learned (the hard way) that you MUST use the backstrap technique to secure the radio into the dash. There is NO KIT that will secure the 2x DIN radio in the 1.5x DIN hole with anything more than friction. A hard enough launch WILL put the radio in your lap!

This advice should be reviewed for ALL aftermarket stereo installs.
