I hear that Toyo(ta) now requires a yearly brake fluid flush to minimize moisture and corrosion. This could lead to all makes requiring the same effort. That is one year from build date, not ownership. Just FYI.

Wouldn't silicone fluid help prevent that?

I don't understand...my '68 Buick last had the brake system flushed when I replaced a line that rusted through about 15 years ago...how will yearly flushing help it last longer?

I think its away to sell more break fluid.

ABS systems are more sensitive, and silicon is a good way to severly compromise an ABS system.

OK, I didn't realise there were complications with ABS and silicone fluid.
I know with non-silicone fluid and ABS it's important to us the recommended DOT type

heat is the problem. I have seen it time and time again in the Ford E-series work vans. I have them flushed once a year.
HEAT HEAT HEAT Boils the fluids....................

That makes sense Big Dog. Especially in your Van fleet.
It's too bad about silicone incompatibility with ABS, I think it's superior withstanding heat as well.

Thanks some day they will come up with a fluid. I have seen brake lines almost blow apart from heat, that is bubble.
Side note RC I "lost" my first 5.4L engine in 3 years. This one was 22 months 146,000 miles old. bad head. Change oil every 3,000. Nothing help poor parts?? Still best van out there.$4600. re-built back on the street. :)

well, 146,000 miles is still not bad on a "bad head" :)
