First of all it's good to see that everyone in this forum are proud owners of a car that I've been debating to buy over the last 3 yrs but due to another expensive hobby (90 notch 5.0) it's been somewhat hard to convince the better half to purchase this type of car without any hints of modding the MM also, but victory is almost within reach. I'll be viewing a 03 MM later this week, the car comes with Eibachs and 2.5 exhaust front to back. Is there anything I should look out for, car ride, electrical, body ETC ETC. The car has 52,000 miles on it .
Any comments will be great......I hoping to join all of you in the next little while, WISH ME LUCK:)
Best of lucka to you! It took me 2 years to find the Marauder I wanted.

I will wish you luck!
Where are you getting it from? How much? What condition?
There are several cars for sale in the Classifieds (http://www.mercurymarauder.net/classifieds/) here, that MAY be of interest to you

I live in Ontario,Canada, so finding a MM is pretty difficult around these woods.
The seller is asking 18,500 CDN...the condition looks great from the pics he sent me but I'll know better later in the week. Here's a pic...http://www.mustangmods.com/ims/u/2848/8845/149276.jpg

Welcome :welcome1: to the MM.Net and Good luck on finding the right MM and convincing your wife. :D
My wife was only mildly interested in the Marauder until I took her on a test ride. She liked it alot. She mentioned comfort, space, and interior quality. When she took it for a spin (leadfoot that she is), she was sold. I drove it home the same day. No regrets from either of us.

It must be a Blue Thing. I made sure she test drove it first, she giggled a lot. I knew the car was mine if I wanted it.

Could be. :D But, it did take about 2 weeks to break her of the habit of using 1/2 throttle to back out of the driveway when she'd occasionally use the MM. The neighbors thought she was in an awful hurry to get to the grocery store. Seems that she was having problems mentally transitioning from the E150 Conversion Van to the Marauder. Don't think that she ever giggled ... but she did point out to me that "You barely have to touch the gas pedal to make this thing move". Yep, she likes it!! ;)

Things to look for (in no particular order)
Head tick
Blue smoke on start up
"weak" tranny
center wear on rear tires
inner wear on front tires
"wrong" size tires
PM Roylpita with the VIN and he can get you the OASIS report which lists all the warranty/dealer service work completed.
The tires are supposed to be 235/50/18 in the front and 245/55/18 in the rear. Using different sizes can upset the traction control. I believe all Canadian cars have traction control and metric speedo/odo meters. Does the car have 52,000 miles or kilometers?
The tranny does not like 4-2 downshifts, not sure how to tell if it has been abused in that manner. Also verify the torque converter is smooth (no juddering/shudder) on lock up in OD. I think stock lock up occurs around 50 mph?
Ask about any modifications. Not that they are bad, you just want to know what you are buying.
Hope you get the car you want!

Jeremy this is FANTASTIC info !!!! This is actually what I was looking for, and for the idea in having the wife take it out first is nothing but spectacular. Thx guy's for all the great comments and reassurance I just hope that the visit on Friday comes out the way I want to. And as for the odometer reading it's actually an American MM with 52,000 miles.

aside from those main points, look for the smaller stuff, too:
rattling subwoofer, leather seat covers coming undone, grey interior paint chipping away from the plastic parts, window motors, heated seat switches, groaning rearends, etc...

Just came back from seeing the 03 Marauder, other than a very small dent on the drivers door the car looks pretty good. Drove the car and as the previous threads asked me to check out I found nothing mechanically wrong with it. She did have a great rumble to it as the owner installed custom headers & 2.5 exhaust on it. Wow guy's now I know what you're talking about...it was a Kodak moment, picture this :Wife driving the car....my son telling her to floor it and me trying to see that everything inside is working fine. After getting back to the shop I asked my wife that famous question.....well,did you like it, And the first thing I seen was very large smile and the comment that I was hoping to hear....YES, she's a really nice car. Bing Bang Boom SOLD!!!
She's getting E-tested and certified next week, so she'll be parked in my driveway in several day's. I'm officially a MM owner, HOLY :censor:.
I'm looking forward to talking to some of you in the next little while

Congrats on your purchase! Try not to flash your wallet in front of the car, if the Marauder sees it she'll coax you into a supercharger among other things. I swear!!
Enjoy!
