I pulled my motor and had it redone to a 5.0L
This was accomplished by use of a fully balanced...yada yada yada...
but an 8-bolt Crank... Cobra motor crank...

I tryed to have F/L/M dealer order me a an 8-bolt flywheel to maych my new crank and was called back saying it is an impossiblity...

that there has never been an 8-boly auto therefore the part doesn't exist...

Would someone either point me into the correct aftermarket direction or provide me with the info to take back to the dealer and make them eat their words.... lol
I know other have used the 8-bolt crank and out auto tranny so it does work... members such as "fordnut" have done this...

wow... why didn't you just get the right bolt crack? that aside didn't the cobra come in an auto verson too? I really have no clue, just throwin ideas out there. Still I'm curious as to why you didn't just go with the one that would fit for sure.

u have the same basic stroker crank i have only i didn't go with stroker rods.... so im only at 5.)L
The setup is from VT like yours but I habd a local guy do assembly because i did alot of other custm parts... similar to "fordnut" such as the ceramic & telfon coated pistons...

Im sure your stroker crank is an 8-bolt what flywheel did u go with...?

The 99-00 GT motor used an 8 bolt crank. You can use one from that application.

But since your motor is a performance part, I'd suggest calling Performance Automatic and buying one of their SFI flexplates.

Either way, there's your 2 options.

I'm actually at 324 because I'm bored as well, on the flexplate question, it should be in the ford racing catalog... or see above ^

XR3Z 6375 EA is the OEM Ford part number for that flexplate, if that's the way you choose to go.

I thought I heard once that the F150 truck flexplate would work too (atleast with a Cobra motor swap to the stock trans) but I'm not sure what years...

But sounds like you already got some optoins. :)

That's what I used.

Art Carr also offers one, but it's not SFI certified.
Another company also sells them, but they are ALWAYS on backorder.

I love it when a dealer says "there's no such thing", but 5 minutes later someone here lists the part number and the vehicle it was used on... :shake:

The members here are simply awesome!

Yeah I used the PA one too on my car. Yes, the 5.4 truck (non-Lightning)flexplate is the same part with 8 holes. Come to think of it, I have one laying around the shop somewhere.
