Here is what I would like to know from the club, if we can get enough interest. I would like to offer a new product, this is a stock hood upper site shield, painted to look like carbon fiber, I cannot tell the difference, Kelley L had one last year made out of carbon fiber, but they were close to 700.00. I found a company that can paint these and they look like real carbon fiber.
http://www.mercurymarauder.net/showcase/files/4/6/DSC00295.JPG

So I will buy new covers
have them treated and sell them for 375.00 PS, yes this is pricey but they do look good and are far less than 750.00

No disrespect sir, but I just don't get it. First , it strictly a bling mod, for 400 bucks? and its not even REAL Carbon Fiber? It's kind of Ricer-ish , why not just get rid of it and save the 1.4 lbs of material on an already heavy front end. Just my humble opinion.

No disrespect taken. I never said it was for every one. Not every one will get it, and if you want to take the cover off your car and have your car look like this go for it.

I am sure 1.4 lb off the cars GVW will not improve your track time.

The cover is also functional, it helps funnel o/s air over the a/c, trans-ps cooler and rad.

I will never forget on Hot Rod they built a Nova for the track and to save weight reoved the wheel well liners. They could not get the car to run right at speed.

They got an experienced Hot Rodder to check it out. It created a vacum and was sucking the fuel out of the carb.

They were so stubborn they built a shroud around the carb. Would have been a lot better to put the wheel well covers back, imho.

Looks good. Since I got one of the original CF ones I won't need one, but it looks like it would be easy to get other underhood parts painted to match. Things like the fuse box cover, vacuum canister, throttle cable cover, etc.

'oovering is a common term of vacuum... However I would just take the stock cover and paint it gloss black for the same effect...and get a new sticker from my local Ford dealer...total invested about $10 bux...

Well its not tape no need for the sarcasm, why not call Hydro solutions ask them what they charge.

This is a complicated process that another member had done to his car, that was at the SSM picnic, if I could get it done for 25.00 I would. Again if you have no interest thats your call.

Dennis,

What about an exchange program? MM owner sends you their current cover, the work is done, and returned for X amount of dollars.

That would reduce the cost, but you would be with out a cover for a week but I could do a exchange program, again I saw this at the SSM picnic on Louis Pro Charged car, and he had his SC pipes done as well, and I thought they were CF, he also had his fuse box cover done the same way, we all love our cars, every one has there own unique way of moding there car, and I respect.

[quote=LVMarauder;475293]Yes but ..... rather than trying to sell people **** that is useless. quote]

I find this sort of post to be offensive. There's a difference between "trying to sell ****" and offering up something a vendor sees as worthy of a look. I note that Dennis reported the unit as painted, for want of a better word, but it's obviously an applied finish not unlike powder coating of various engine parts, or laser applied graphics, which neither make our cars go faster nor reduce weight. It's bling, pure and simple, and, in my opinion, in this case, looks very nice.

Reinhart found these, went to the trouble to post the photos, and offered to get them, if there is enough interest. The notion that he's trying to sell **** is quite a leap, and, frankly, IMHO, out of line.

We drive very special cars, these MM's, and many choose ways to individualize them, for better or worse; it's in the eye of the beholder. One thing we don't do here, is point fingers and flame one another over our choices.

Either you like Dennis' offering and want one, or you don't, let's keep it civil. :)

DITTO...I was lucky enough to buy one of the last CF covers made, but I am REALLY interested in a CF fuse box cover & throttle cable cover.
Dennis is it possible to get a quote for a group buy on these items?
Or, can these items be 'painted' like the radiator cover you posted?

I am two percenter, I "get" it.

Um, apparently not. Reinhart Performance Engineering is just that, a performance shop. One, as a friend and enthusiast Dennis went to the trouble of sourcing something he found attractive and thought we might also. Two, a performance shop is in no way shape or form obligated to offer 'bling', dude is doing the membership and owners a favor. Three, you think his time is FREE? I give him at least 3 hours at 125 bucks and hour out of time he could have spent hopping up cars and taking in the money. Nope, he spent it on US! Last, but certainly not least, Dennis is ONE OF US who happens to have more access to resources, vendors, etc. He's kind enough to continually offer cool stuff at a good price and I promise you, the profit is just enough to keep the lights on and grandkids fed.

So, Mr. '2 Percenter'. Maybe you should spend some time at the 'grass roots' level, where we share our ideas and help each other out.

It seems recently you like to whine and bag on people and ideas. I, for one, don't love it. Say what you will about me, since now you feel personally attacked. My skin is thick and I need no flame suit, cuz those who know me know what I'm about. Calm down and grow up dude.

As for the CF look trim. Not so much for me. (due to price) Lou's looks freakin' great. I even did some looking myslef after I saw Lou's at SSM picnic. I couldn't find it. Dennis, thanx for spending the time and effort.

If my memory serves me correct, the real CF ones were less than half of the price quoted for painted.
I recall Big slim got his (damaged)after a lenghty wait.
No interest here, but they do look nice.

Kelley Larimore paid over 250.00 I just found this out, so this is not cost efective for the club my cost on a new cover was 45.00 then I had to send this to Miami pay to and from shipping he charged me 275.00 for the process so, again I will let this go, Jason was the one that was doing these two years back but he had several complaints on fit a finish. Ant on can call hydro soloutions to verify this or PL Louis Panthelom.
