Just curious. Another thread, which was just started
sparked this.
Anyone order a 2004 MM yet? What did the Dealer say?
What are your predictions. I know the rumor mill has been going for a while. Just wondering, if anyone has first-hand experience with ordering a 2004.
If I remember correctly, there is now a official 2004 Order Guide out.

It's true that the gide was released, but the salesmen at my local dealership have been told NOT to take any orders and to advise the public that the '04 will most likely NOT appear.

Ummm...Interesting 411, Constable, thanks.
Makes me wonder how many '03s that dealer, and other dealers in his region, are sitting on. Around here, there seems to be a "circle the wagons, boys!" effort among local dealers trying to move what's left over. It wouldn't surprise me that the company sales pitch is "get one while you can."
More smoke, more mirrors, and once the '03 supply is finally exhausted, dealers have an "interested/disappointed" mailing list to work from. Interesting side bar here, hope it doesn't highjack this thread.
When I told my dealer I wanted to sell my MM, he asked me to wait 24 hours while he "looked into things" for me. He had his sales staff telephone every "interested" shopper in the area, which generated some interest and two very strong "I'll be right over." Sadly, we could not come to agreements, and the MM went to CarMax the following Monday. Watching the sales staff pitch these leads was telling.
Anyway, I am very confident that an '04 MM will be produced, in black, silver and red, and my dealer is ready to take my order. He cannot predict the sales price, but I think a few of those left over '03s parked out back that we hear about here every once in a while, will have a lot to do with pushing the '04 price back to sticker for a while...IMHO.
We'll see, eh?

Like I mentioned in my other post reply, a few 2004s have been produced in St Thomas. I missed the chance to give one a once over last week, it appeared to be identical in appearance on the outside. It was silver, same rims, trim, etc. I was told that the 2004s will be made and full production will begin in the next few weeks. Just a note, full production amounts to a couple a day! The St Thomas line rolls one car off every 54 seconds. This includes the crown vic-regular, sport, police interceptor, and the longer wheelbase taxis, and the marquis interspersed with the crown vics, so the number of Marauders is tiny when compared to the crown vics, whose production dominates that factory.

I would not doubt that the 2004's go into production....but I would think they might keep it quiet....so they can sell existing stock.....Then later in the year they may talk about taking delivery on a 2004 they will bring up the car that has been sitting there waiting for the other 2003's to sell first.....
I kind of see a situation very similar to the Impala SS developing here....sales were not all that hot...and after they were done being made...(which I had heard some of them were actually 97's they were so late)....that the cars just sat.
And then gradually collectors and muscle car enthusiasts started to want them and got them at a good price....a place down here that specializes in Corvettes only sold about 500-600 Impala SS's that it got from all over the country between 97 and 99.
Who knows maybe if they advertised the red...it might pull people to the dealership to show them the Black.....

I have "put in" my order for a red one. I have a fellow to buy my black one. I was told late July delivery? then mid August? No big deal as far as time goes for me. The other fellow is cool about it also.
A big ps: not the same dealer:help: :P :P :P

There was someone who posted here recently, apparently from a dealership, who said they sold more Marauders than any other, and were taking orders for '04s

Nobody has mentioned the fact that there is a rebate for the 03's.
so the 04's will be AT LEAST $3,500-$4,000.00 more (at least, initially). We have not had a problem selling them here in Indy, we try to stock 2 of every color, minumum. There have been numerous times that we have bought other dealers stock just to keep some on hand!
L&M won't market the cars, so sometimes we have to take the inititiave! I can see how some dealers have had a problem, smaller dealers in smaller markets don't have the ad $ so their area never learns about the car! Sad but true!
