Went to my dealership this a/m and bought #BXT65-650 100 Month Battery. This is the same battery that comes with the Marauder new.(except there is no little lens to see the green light).
Anyways I decided to do it my self as the dealership seemed very busy. It was just like any other battery I've installed except for the battery handle is little hard to remove. And you want to remove it because it can't swing over out of the way like you would think it should. My solution was to run a hacksaw blade down with the handle to keep the catch tab from catching the side of the battery and then pull the handle up and out with the hacksaw blade at the same time. Oh,I did try a flat bladed screwdriver first but that didn't work for me.
There is a small hex head bolt that has a plastic wedge that holds the battery down that you need to remove to put the battery in place. And reapply after you get the new battery in.
I may have had the power disconnected for about 10 minutes? This is where I wasn't sure whether I would have to reprogram all my electronics or not ? I was pleased to find my garage door code still worked ,my radio stations were still set and my door entry code wasn't lost.
The only thing I had to set was my clock.

I too just replaced my btry. I was glad I did not have to reset a few things. I did need to follow the steps for the PCM to relearn the idea control settings and all that. Kind of involved in a minor sort of way. Did the 10 mile drive and all that. All is good.

The stock btry had the red dot showing and the volt gauge was pegged at 15. Since the new install the gauge does not get past 14 now...but does sometimes. I am wondering if I have electrical issues thought. Something is wrong as my rear window defroster does not work, even though the little light goes on, on the switch. I am only left to wonder about the heated mirrors as I have not seen them glazed with ice/frost yet. I'll check the fuse in the AM. Not sure what fuse it is but I have the manual...so I'll check that.

My new btry is an Enegizer...saw good comments regarding that type in past threads. So far so good...3 days and counting.

Yes, if you reconnect the battery within a short amount of time it doesn't erase all settings - just the clock. Oh, and your bass and treble settings are probably also reset, despite the presets still being there.

I normally just cut the handle off, then slide the little tabs out the bottom and throw 'em out.

Oh, and for those who may be purchasing a battery soon try Motorcraft BXT65-850. It is the same size, direct-fit group 65, but with 200 more CCA

If you solder a 9V transistor battery to a cigarette lighter plug you c an use that to keep your settings when you change the battery.

Back in NOV 05 I replaced my OEM with a new BX-65-650.
This new battery died and had a new one installed in FEB 06.
Then had this battery replaced in FEB 07, yep it died also.

With the batteries under warrenty WOODHOUSE L/M in Omaha, NE replaced them right away. They said they have never seen two new batteries go bad like in the same car. This last time, they had two separate techs check out the electrical system on the MM, they both came back with "nothing wrong with the MM".
