And no, it won't work. There is only 1 shift cable going to the shifter, only one position can be selected at a time. If you tried doing that, the car would only be able to shift from park to reverse as the second handle would limit it's range of travel.

If you want to shift manually depress the o/d off and move the shifter 1st-2nd-D, and use the o/d switch to control 3rd/4th

Isn't it commonly reffered to as the His/Her shifter?

Yeah. Made by Hurst, came in some 67 and later Pontiacs and other GM muscle cars. Works pretty good, no neutral on the "his" side.

Do you mean the Lighting rods 1984 Olds Hurst.

Wish I could remember more details...
Way back when, mom used to date a Pro Stock racer, we'd travel around with the guy, and one of the cars that I remember, named "Gear Jammer", had a whole bunch o' shifter levers in it. That beast used to fascinate everyone that looked inside.

Yeah, it's a Lightning Rods shifter. They were used back when all trans were 3 speeds.

I don't care for our shifter either but we would have to fab up a shifter if we wanted one.

I'm a young buck, can some one explain to me the function of sucha shifter?

One of the shifter companies, B & M or Hurst, makes a plate that mounts in the Mustang OEM shifter that requires you push the button for all up shifts. This keeps you from over shifting from first and going into third.

Man I worked my a** off and I couldn't move the photo to the post...
So I thought I'd wait till Monday and try again...
If someone can tell me how to do this I'd sure appreciate it...
I obviously can put it in my Gallery, but beyond that I'm lost...
It wouldn't let me move a photo bigger than 100KB...and this photo was a bigger file...
The "added shifter" photo wasn't meant to be serious...it was just for smiles and comments....
But the old dual shifter was very cool in it's day..:D
Thanks again,
Architect

Architect;
I just right clicked the image, copied the source (mm.net/blahblahblah.jpg) and pasted it inside BB image tags (http://....htpp://.....)
