I have a 03' Black MM. My question is " how do I remove the many, many fine scratches in the finish?" I am the 3rd owner and it looks as if the previous owners ran it thru the cheapo carwashes a lot. When I wash and wax it , it looks pretty good for a while. Anything short of a paint job http://www.claysmithcams.com/images/home.gifthat might work? Product, and or method? Thanks in advance ,Vince.

Get an oribital buffer (ie Porter Cable DA), an 8006 cutting pad, and some Meguiar's Mirror Glaze #80, #82 or #9.
This is pretty fool proof, it is hard to burn through the paint with this setup thanks to the orbital/DA polisher's movement.
Ideally use #80 first (or #83 if REALLY bad) and follow up with #9, then the wax of your choice. (I have Zaino Z-5p+Z-2p (and z-8 between each/every oat) over my buffed finish, then Klasse AIO and glaze, then MG #5, followed with #26 yellow wax)

My Merc's finish:

Zaino Z-5p+Z-2p, z-8 between each coat, over top a previously buffed finish on our Navigator:

You can try all you want with some hand-applied polish, but it won't get the same results.

Meguiar's ScratchX is 'decent' at swirl removal by hand.
