View Full Version : My thoughts about Dennis and what not....

Jerry
03-13-2007, 05:56 AM
Most of the members on this board have heard of me, or know of me. I have decided that it is time to become a member. My name is Jerry Wroblewski. I have a large amount of experience at the OEM level. I have worked for GM in the 80’s, Ford in the 90’s and a few years at Roush. While at Roush I did work on the Marauder program. I am the person that provided the knowledge to start SCT and currently I am still one of the owners. However, SCT and I no longer share the same vision. I am not, nor have I ever been a greedy person that is focused on money. I can’t say the same for the others at SCT. Because of this, I am being forced out of the company that I started and I have not supported them in any way, shape or form in over 6 months. And before you say anything, yes I do own a Marauder. It’s a blue one with about 19k miles on it and it is totally stock, non modified.
<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p> </o:p>
I didn’t create an account on this board to talk about me, I am did this to talk about Dennis. First off, Dennis did not ask me to, nor did her ever imply to me, to make this post. I am doing this because I feel it is necessary.
<o:p> </o:p>
Dennis and I go back about 6-7 years. I consider him a friend. Through the last several years, he has been there for me, when necessary and vice-versa. I accept some peoples negative opinion about Dennis. There is no one person out there that is going to get 100% of the votes in a popularity contest. There are people that will never want me to tune their car because they greatly dislike me and think that I am not good at what I do. That’s fine. I accept that.
<o:p> </o:p>
No one is perfect. Not me, not you, and not Dennis. One thing that some people seem to lose sight of is that Dennis really cares about helping people out. At times he certainly comes across gruff, or short. If you’ve spoken to him on the phone, you probably have a different opinion of him than if you talked to him in person face to face.
<o:p> </o:p>
Modifying any car is a game/gamble/dice toss. If you went by what companies advertised the gain was for their widget we’d all be driving 12 second NA Marauders. Guess what? We’re not. Does that mean that these parts don’t add value? Not at all. EVERYONE takes liberties in their advertised claims. In can take just about any part and run it back to back on a dyno and show you either 5 HP gain or a 5 HP loss. But when the dust settles if you are happy that’s what matters. Now, let’s look at a few things. A few years ago when these cars came out, everyone had a widget to sell for them, or wanted to tune them, etc. This car has been out of production for about 3 years now, where are most of these people? Many have moved on to other platforms and don’t care. They made their money and that’s all they wanted. Dennis is still here. He’s probably not going anywhere. He has to live with all his claims, good or bad. You can still beat him up if you want too.
<o:p> </o:p>
What I feel is inexcusable is the blatant attacks like that have transpired here. If you don’t like someone’s product, then don’t buy it. You will make a much larger statement by doing this than you will just ranting and raving about how you don’t like something or someone. If you don’t like someone be articulate and make clear, easy to understand points. If you don’t like one of Dennis’ products, then just state why you don’t like the product. It’s not that hard to do and most people will have more respect for you if you do it that way. Personal attacks in any situation are uncalled for, period. Part of what makes us humans different than the animal world is our ability to think and reason. Posts like the one that is the start of this thread make you wonder if we do have that ability. Aside from the fact that the poster doesn’t like Dennis, it’s hard to follow anything else. Was their a point to his post, or just did he just want to start drama?
<o:p> </o:p>
Would I ever buy a different engine cover for my car? Not a chance. I’m not a person that’s into “show”, I’m far more of a go person. But I respect those people that have different interests than mine and accept them/that. That is part of what makes us civilized.
<o:p> </o:p>
I have probably rambled on enough. My point is, if you don’t like something or someone, state why in a clear, non-attacking fashion. Is it that hard?
<o:p> </o:p>

Jerry,
I've heard tons about you, both from Dennis and in the Marauder community. I thank you for joining us (finally) and look forward to your input. I agree that as a community we are indeed privileged to have support from those with strong Marauder knowledge on a platform that is, in fact, long out of production (by today's standards).

I look forward to meeting you someday.
Thanx

Jerry,
I'm sure I'm not alone when I say, "I'm honored by your presence.". I have read many stories about the fabled Jerry W. both here and elsewhere. I certainly would appreciate you hanging around here. Lord knows, you have a ton of knowledge to impart. While I don't expect it to be a labor of love for you, we particularly would love your labor tremendously. Stay in touch here - just ignore the obnoxious.

Thanks for the information,

JMan

Getting rid of the extra chrome is certainly high on the agenda of things to do pretty soon. It may even happen as early as next week. Obviously it is as you and I have talked in the long run it's going to be getting a Kenne Bell blower on it. There is only so much time in a day though and I have a lot of other things to do right now. Once I get some of the other BS distractions gone in my life I'll be able to focus more on things like this.

Hello, Jerry and :welcome1:

There are many, like you, on the MM net, who are reasonable, thoughtful persons, and I'd like to extend a heartfelt welcome to you. We have a wonderful family scattered amongst us; they neither pander nor prosecute; but have a genuine interest in the Panther platform in general, and the Marauder in particular. Some have come and gone, and there are those who have used hate and deceit to foster their agendas, fortunately, most have moved on, or have been invited to leave. Like-thinking people, however, gravitate towards one another, sometimes by something as incongruous as an automobile, sometimes through a common goal or tragedy.

When I was invited to join this board it was from a couple of the guys who saw a post of mine on another forum, and invited me to join their group (CAM) for lunch, and to check out MM.net. That was Charlie Gallion, and Gordon/Chris, (Bluerauder & Haggis/Ladyhawke) and I liked them the minute I met them. Friendships grow, and Barb and I will be attending Charlie's son's wedding this fall. We've shared the births of our children and grandchildren, and sadly, watched as some of our friends parted ways with their husbands/wives, and the most heart rending of all, the loss of loved ones.

MM.net is more than a group of folks who share ideas/questions about oil and ticking valves; we've built lasting friendships with folks we're not likely to meet in this life. Some are several generations apart age-wise, and thousands of miles apart geographically, and even though the Marauder has brought us together, it's the respect and mutual admiration that makes and keeps the bond that is MM.net.

Jerry, for your first post, you've made quite a splash, and as an owner and sometimes moderator, I heartily welcome you.

With time, I may begin to appreciate Dennis .....if only he had some hair. ;)

Welcome to the site, Jerry...it's good to hear from you again. :)

BTW, for those who may not recognise his name, Jerry is also the "J" of the famous "J-Mod" for the AODE and 4R70W transmissions. You will not find anyone who knows more about that transmission family than he does...

It was back in late 2003 or early 2004 when we met at Amazon Racing in northeastern Maryland. It was during a Mustang dyno day and I had the only marauder there (Kenny brown #8). You tried a couple of times to tune it, but the marauder was having fuel pressure issues. We took it for a test drive, but everytime I would get on it there would be someone else in my way. You told me to take it easy until I corrected the fuel pressure issue and gave me my money back for the tune. Thanks.

Welcome to the Collective, were resistance to moding is futile. You have already be assimilated.

I understand exactly how you feel about things bringing people together. About 8-9 years ago a group of us met because we all owned the MN-12 T-Birds (yes I had a SuperCoupe). Since then a group of us have become very close and are very good friends, one of them I consider one of the very few true friends in my life that will be there for me if I ever needed him. If my never ending divorce ever ends (it's over 3 years now) I will marry a wonderful woman whom I met because I was tuning, you guessed it, T-Birds.

My point is, if I have one, is that I do understand the entire "family" thing with respect to some of these niche boards. Because of all the "drama" in my life with respect to the divorce, SCT and some other things, I have backed away from any public presence on the internet for quite some time. Maybe I will find a home here, maybe I won't. I do feel somewhat of a void because I had to back away. I hope to hand around for a while and see what happens....

Welcome Jerry, I first met you in Chicago in late '03. I was a newbie then and had NO idea what you were doing to my car. All I know is that when you were done, the difference in power was nothing short of amazing. Since that time I have been keeping up with your exploits through Dennis and I see you have a VERY large wake behind you of satisfied MM owners.

Folks this guy is the einstein of MM tuning. If imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. then Jerry W. is the most flattered tuner of our cars.

Welcome Jerry,

We hope you stay and find your home right here!

Jerry, back in 2003 I bought a tune from Dennis for my bonestock MM, I believe the tune he was selling was developed by you (if I am wrong please correct me) and with it my car ran a 14.49 @ 97.5 mph and a pocketfull of 14.5's in Florida where is hot and humid. The shifting was fantastic.

Hey Zack, you're just a few miles East of me (elwood is just south of Joliet), want to give me some pointers when Blue gets here? Should be about March 15, 2009, 2010 or 2011. DOH !! If nothing else, the squad car..ah, heck, the garage would complain, never mind.

Welcome Jerry,
Good to have another voice of reason onboard. If you are in our area, please plan on joining the CAM for one/all of our monthly meets. But above all, mark your calendar for Marauderville 5 this summer in Hagerstown, MD. I heard all the cool people were going to be there with their fancy cars. It's been a great time every year. This year will be a blast as well!

WOW - Jerry W.!!!! Some people on this board may not know how much Jerry has contributed to Ford, tuning, transmissions and our MM and what a true auto icon this man is. I meet Jerry when he was at Team Ford in November 15, 2003 for a chip or flash computer tune. Everyone had a chip burnt at that time, I was one of the few that wanted a computer flash. Jerry did a super tune on the MM and really woke the car up. I was very impressed with his knowledge and tuning abilities. This board is fortunate to have him on here and I hope he contributes his considerable knowledge to our knowledge. By the way, dinner that night for the Atlanta group was with Dennis.

I agree that this board and its members need to be more civil and reasonable with each other on the board. Dennis is a strong supporter of the MM. My dealings with him have always been positive and as advertised.

Welcome Jerry W. - now I hope the other Jerry can return soon.

You pretty much hit the nail on the head. To bad a lot of people can't remember how to act and how to communicate with others when they are doing it with a keyboard and a monitor. Well, Welcome too Jerry--as others have said---I too was with Glenn and many many others that day/night in 2003 when I met you as well and had my MM tuned by you ..----TAF had clued me in on you and Dennis as the folks to get tune and stuff from in the beginning....and it was TAF I believe who was telling all about that weekends party. I believe it was called "Atlanta Breakfast Club--Dyno with Jerry--Dinner with Dennis-Nov 15-16, 2003".
Alot of folks had only heard of you guys and met you then as it is again now with so many newere members today----I still wear the "plate" on the MM's engine radiator cover---anyway--It was a fun weekend---drove 500 miles just to spend time meeting you , Dennis and get tuned.......and I believe I'm correct , and someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe Dennis Picked up the Dinner Tab than night--I couldn't see the end of the table---It was also the weekend I decide to purchase my S/C'er from Dennis as well....Yeah a great meet and weekend for sure...Thanks to TAF and his friends--..and I've always gotten great service from Dennis--I don't run a business, but understand pre-paying for stuff and waiting for it to arrive--especially when alot of the items are not stocked........so like its been said...if you don't like things....move on-

Once again , nice to see you here--oh yeah when you first turned to me when doing the tune, you asked " What do you want?....I said, make it run fast --what else!...you said...ok then...?....and you did...showd how newbe I was then --you were looking for responce of A/F, boost,HP,degrees timing info-----yeah you gave me that look back--"ok newbe!!"....and the car practically out ran everyone all the way back home--...and of course it was N/A then........Tom

I have been non stop since Monday, I was worn out when I got home Sunday, I have been on the phone at work till 7:00 PM every night Since Monday and I am still behind in phone calls, thank you Jerry for the post, I wanted to tell every one how we met, I first started out with a new 1996 T Bird I wanted to put a DOHC motor in it, I bought a 96 Cobra motor, and had some kid in a jeep make a left turn in front of me and Sheila, we hit them broad side and there went my bird, so I bought a Mark 8 that has the DOHC motor, I was the first person in USA to ever do a SC on a Mark 8 I used the 96 Cobra intake which every one said would never work and it did then, I tried three people to tune it I lost two motors, and then I heard about Jerry. I sent him a email I told him about the car, I said can you tune it he said yes, I will be in Cleveland Ohio next weekend if you get the car there I can tune it, he told to me put a walbro 255 in the tank and the correct injectors and a Pro-am maf.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com[IMG]http://www.mercurymarauder.net/forums/ /><o:p></o:p>

<FONT color=black><o:p><FONT face=Verdana></o:p><FONT face=Verdana><FONT color=black>I put the car on a trailer, borrowed a pick up drove 1200 miles through the worst rain storm in my life to <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 /><st1:City><st1:place><FONT color=black>Cleveland</st1:place></st1:City><FONT color=black>, I got at the hotel the night before. The next morning I got up and had it dropped 30 degrees and snowed, but I was at Steve’s Dyno tech facility and met Jerry. Waited most of the day as nervous as the preverbal you know what in church, and they put the car on the dyno, Jerry gets in the car starts looking at the program starts the car and looks at the Fuel pressure gauge at it says 100 PSI, he asks me about it, and I say its brand new, he says ok and does a pull, the car is pig rich, he ***** the AF and the car still is pig rich, so now I am real nervous, he says you have serious issues they put a manual gauge on it and sure enough its 100 PSI. The 96 Mark 8 is a return style fuel system with a separate return line back to the tank, before there were larger injectors people would install a FMU what this does is restrict return fuel flow which raises the fuel pressure over driving a smaller injector to increase fuel flow, my car did not have a FMU so when I replaced the pump I pinched off the return line when I reinstalled the gas tank.<o:p></o:p>
<FONT face=Verdana>This raised the FP to 100 PSI; my tank is full there are ten more cars waiting. I am sick Jerry looks over to Steve and says this dude just drove 1200 miles he isn’t going home till we tune the car, so they scratch there heads and Steve says ok no problem, they disconnected my return fuel line at the rail, duct tape and clamp a garden hose to the fuel rail run the hose down the side of my the car insert the hose in the filler neck start the car and reads 40 PSI, he tunes the car it made 400 RWHP. When were done I stayed all day long to watch him and he took a break and we all went out side and there was the very first Marauder this was in late 01 or 02, Jerry was the drive line engineer for this car, I fell in love with the car. Jerry and I became friends and I sold his tuning, he designed the first chip for a Marauder, Logan got the first one, and now you know as Paul Harvey says the rest of the story, Jerry was a Ford Dinner one night and Steve Babcock was speaking to the VIP’S there about the Marauder that had just been released, Jerry was drinking a glass of water when Steve said some guy in Florida was doing tuning on them already Jerry almost choked, I never asked him to make this post I am proud he has joined the club. He has been as critical on me as any one if he felt I was wrong.
<o:p><FONT face=Verdana></o:p><FONT face=Verdana>So again welcome aboard to the best Marauder site on the internet.<FONT color=black><o:p></o:p>

Actually, When I was at Ford we put Eaton M-90's on a few 1993 Mark 8's around 1994 or 1995.....Remember, I'm the engineer, we are all about the details.

See you tomorrow....

Yes I guess I could say I was the first one to install a centrifugal SC, I think I also remembering they made a one of a kind Mark 8 SC with twin mafs and more than eight injectors.
