View Full Version : Driver's Seat Issues

So I noticed the other day that there is something hanging down from the front edge of my driver's seat, and concurrently, the front edge of the seat isn't as firm as it used to be. It seems that the hanging object, which is a fabric piece with a plastic clip-type thing attached across the full width of it, has fallen out of the works of the seat where it was once clipped, causing the front cushioning foam to start sliding downward.

Does anyone have any helpful hints as to how to get this thing reattached? I can't seem to get it far back enough to clip it onto the metal flange it seems to need to clip to. I'm afraid to muscle it much more for fear of tearing the fabric or breaking the clip somehow. Is there a trick to it?

If what I'm talking about makes no sense, I'll get some pictures of the dangling piece later or tomorrow.

I have the same issue and wondered if that was not the way it was supposed to be. But it just does not seem right.

Once the Dealer reclipped.

You have to "get down" to see that it rotates back on it'self abd the "c" channel clips in the metal lip.

Once you figure out how try a few dabs of silicone adhesive.

Hah! I always thought that thing was supposed to hang like that! Now I'll have to take a look at it to see what it is supposed to be like.

Have the same problem with mine on both front seats. Dealer keeps on re-clipping it, it keeps falling down. I'll have to take the seat out and do the silicone trick.

No matter how many times I clip it back in place, it keeps coming off

Take the seat out, flip it upside down, clamp the plastic clip in place on the frame, and put some self tapping screws through the frame. Use some washers on it so the plastic doesn't tear apart around the screw.

This was the only way I could fix mine. Lincoln/Mercury agreed. The plastic clips lose their tension after a while and just will not hold any longer.
