I am seeing a big swing in tire prices for the MM. In February at Discount Tire it was $96 each for the Front & $152 for the rear. Now they are $106 & $161. The real kicker to me is…a local, <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /><st1:City w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Denver</st1:place></st1:City>, performance tire store (big shop maybe not a chain) wants $174 & $184 each… These are the same stock tires BFG g-FORCE T/A KDWS 235.50.R18ZR & 245.55.R18ZR. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p>
I am wondering if I should buy now at the lower price and store them in my basement.

Why don't you take a chance on a couple raffle tickets and win a front or rear set of tires. There are still tickets left ...

With the weather getting warmer for us Midwest guys, the demand can only increase :burnout:

It's always been this way with these tires. Price goes up and down like a yo-yo

My favorite tire shop is Costco. They the best prices and the equipment to handle aluminum wheels without causing damage.
How many shops hand torque the lug nuts to spec?

Tire Rack had the fronts for $114 in 2004. Then I think they got a new big shipment in and had a special price for $77 in early 2006 so I purchased 2 of them. The longer they store them, the price seems to go up. The price is now $99. I would expect the price to rise to $114 sometime.

PS After I received the tires I could compare the tread depth. My front had the inside bald but I noticed the tread depth at the corners on the new tires was less then the center. A racing fan of mine said that they make the tires that way so it helps the sidewall rigidity for cornering performance.
I am still running the same fronts, 42,000 miles, and check them monthly. I have the new ones stored in the garage with close to optimum conditions of cool, dry, and no light. The rears are a different story!
