Well last night after being on the dyno all day long we went out and relaxed.
We all went to a real good Mexican place to eat, all of us delved in 2 pictures of Margaritas, we have not had any rain here in over two weeks and it starts to just pour, driving on Nittos in the rain sucks, so I asked the guys at tire kingdom about a wider tire besides BFG he came up with a Hancock 295/45/18 here they are tell me what you think.

I fully agree with that statement. I have gone sideway a few times in light rain. The tires you have on display look great  but I will not be in the market for new tires until next year.

Those do look nice, my only concern would be the traction they provide on high powered cars, they are listed as truck tires :bigcry:

The tires are sold for passenger cars as well, and look at the tread desig. I believe these are safer than Nitto drag radials, on the street and in the rain which was my goal, and they provide more traction than the stock rears. Either way I will follow up after I run these to Kentucky and back next week.
Dennis;
How tall are these tires?
Is there a price range?
Are they directional?
Speed rated?

Nitto Drag Radials are not supposed to be "Street" tires......What's wrong with the NT 555's in the 295 size?? I have them and they seem OK in rain......just have to remember "DaBoost" thingy!!

Pat they are a directional tire if you look at the tread design, it is the traditional "V" pattern. Yea Dennis do you mean Hankook like RCSignals stated?

I disagree. If they were not supposed to be street tires, they would not have groves and would be slicks. That said, they do suck when it is below 50* or raining. I'd never attempt to drive with Nittos DR in the snow. FWIW, the Nitto DR we run were originaly designed for the F150 Lightning.
As for the tires above. They look cool, but dont be swayed by the fancy "Aquatread" style. The "water wicking design" is snake oil.

Dennis, nice pitchers of the tires! :D Sorry, I know that this is a serious issue but can't resist, the "menace" made me do it. The Nitto 555 in 295 works just fine for me, and they are driven hard. Dennis

I've been driving on 20" truck tires for over 30K miles. In our heavy cars, I wouldn't go back. In today's terms, our car is heavy as an suv, not light as a passenger car.
Dennis drove mine last November and referrred my Nitto 420s truck tires as 'sticky'.
I'll never go back. They have been predictable in dry and wet. I consider them a safety upgrade.
I think you made a good decision, Dennis. I used to run Hankook on ricers back in the day and got good wear and performance.

I was actually considering those people with high hp numers, who can't afford 5 sets of wheels/tires :P I have run toyos, which are very good tires, ran the ones rated for trucks... 0 grip if I put the pedal down at all. That was my only thought, I'm looking for something to run all summer, that's why for me personally I put a :bigcry: becasue been there done that

Pat,
I did a little checking on these, here's what I came up with:
Hankook Ventus ST RH06 295/45R18 (Replacement for OEM tire on the Ford Lightning)
O.D. 28.5"
Section Width: 11.5"
Tread Width: 9.8"
Speed Rating: V (up to 149mph)
Price: $149.00

Interesting observation, Willie.
Now if I could just get RWHP mods for the same 1:1 ratio......;)
BTW, I see you've now listed yourself as a PONTIFICATOR, wazzat, like a guy that drives a Gran Prix for a living or something??:P

I have the 245/40/17 version om my 98 Mustang - The grip well when it's dry - They suck in the rain. It does not snow here (I wouldn't take it out in the anyway).
