Sleeper? NOT! No one in their right mind would race a funny looking Crown Vic with strange looking bars in the cockpit. That thing screams POLICE. I love your car and am looking forward to your appearence on Pinks.

I must disagree. Those bars are suprisingly less obtrusive than I thought. I assume driver and passenger bars can be removed for daily driving?

It's a very clean install. What did that cost you?

Since you seem to be utterly clueless here, I'll let the NHRA reply for Mr 2ndMDRebel;

Yes Im aware of that.
I clearly stated whoever installed it did an excellent job.

In my OPINION (is that allowed?) I think a rollbar ruins the car.

It is apparent to me that this is a must to go further with his hobby. Good for him, its just not for me.

Diplomacy is not your strong suit. Instead of "You ruined your car" (opinion), you might have just started with "It's just not for me" (opinion).
See the difference? In any case, since the bars are required, any opinion becomes irrelevant, so all you accomplished was looking like you wanted to start an arguement.
Carry on.

Looks like a nice clean install, done well to co-exist with the factory interior.

My only concern is you having tech issues at the track with those side bars, they aren't really legal being that low. But most tracks just care that you have a basic bar, and usually don't bust chops on the legalities.

Do you have any pics of where the bar attaches to the chassis?

Betcha' that stiffens it up enough to be a convertible now.

What kind of metal are they made out of....?
Are they coated with any thing... they look great almost like they have a gray color to them....maybe it's just the metal...

Ditto on the "are there any shot where it attaches to the chassis?"

Over great install and you are certaijnly braver than me.... I couldn't put roll bars in mine....

How has the getting in and out been for ya so far....?
Is it as easy as ever or a little tricky...?

Could you have kicked the bar running behind the front seats back a little more so you could retain some recline...? I however realize it would take away from rear seat room though....

Looks badass indeed! I cannot wait to see you on Pinks! Do you know who you are racing? Are you certain you are going to win? Also, do you know when it will be aired? I know they tape them first and then air them.

No one is certain who is going to be on because you have cars from 9 sec to 12.99 secs. PINKS crew could pick cars in the range of 10.1 to 10.3 if they had 16 of them or 11.0-11.2, etc etc. I will be keeping my fingers crossed that at least one if not all of our guys can make it into the sweet 16. The show would probably be aired late July to mid August if I remember the time frame from their last trip to our local drag strip and then when the show aired.

Could you post pics of the under-carriage showing how it all comes together?

Thanks,

Nah, just wrap the rear passengers head in bubble wrap :D.

Nice looking cage. I guess Consumers Reports would have to upgrade the side impact rating to excellent for that Panther.

That's not true. If you listen to both people racing, and if one person KNOWS the other car is faster and they're sand bagging it, you hear them say "I thought you were supposed to bring a 12 second car when this one is a 10 second car." For example, did you see the one with the White Camaro SS that was built by some speedshop, and that late 80's Mustang Notch back that was built by another speedshop? Both cars broke, but the Camaro broke first so he lost. But my point is, the 'Notch was fast, but the Camaro was faster and everyone knew it. And he was pissed because they thought they both had equal cars when they clearly didn't. There's a few other episodes I can think of with the same scenario.

I think there is some confusion over the 2 shows "PINKS" & "PINKS ALL OUT"

Raudermaster
03-22-2007, 08:37 PM
Pinks All Out to my understanding is cars that can do the 1/4 in under 8 seconds.

2ndMDRebel

The shop that did the install is Justin's Performance Center here in Glen Burnie, MD. Justin Burcham is a competition racer, Mustangs, and was on Pinks before in one of the early seasons.

Looks like a good install. But IMHO, you just ruined the car!
...
In my OPINION (is that allowed?) I think a rollbar ruins the car.

Opinions are fine, no offense taken. Its all about where I'm heading with the car. My goals are to have a consistent hi 10 / low 11 second car that can be daily driven. I can't do that without a rollbar. The bar does take away from the comfort factor by adding a bit of noise and restricts the full usage of the seats but thats a tradeoff I can deal with.

My only concern is you having tech issues at the track with those side bars, they aren't really legal being that low.
...
Do you have any pics of where the bar attaches to the chassis?[<!-- / message --><!-- sig -->/quote]

I noticed that too when picking it up, if it doesn't pass tech guess where I'll be monday morning!! The bars should go through the floor and attach directly to the frame, will try to get some shots the next time its in the air.

[quote]What kind of metal are they made out of....?
Are they coated with any thing... they look great almost like they have a gray color to them....maybe it's just the metal...

They are chromoly, can't remember the exact thickness/dimensions but it is NHRA legal. They are painted silver and I plan on adding some padding at a few strategic spots. The front bars are removeable swingouts and are made by Chris Alston.

However....do the rear passenger's heads hit the rear down tubes???

I sat back there to test it and at 5'10" and 220lbs I was comfortable and had room. The bars hug the contour of the rear window (they took that out during the install) and I will be adding some padding up top as a precaution.

I think there is some confusion over the 2 shows "PINKS" & "PINKS ALL OUT"

This is not the regular PINKS show where you can lose your ride. PINKS: ALL OUT is done for a cash prize, no titles are exchanged. Basically they do a test-n-tune and watch the cars and pick the tightest group that they feel will make a good show and run them. The Texas show had 10.0 cars, the Arizona show had 9.3 second cars... I'm hoping they'll pick 11s/12s for the Maryland show as we want to get a CAM member on tv, there will be several of us there representing.

Thanks for the kind replies!
