I have decided to return my Marauder back to the stock tune....I will put the tune back in for track events and for trips....the reason for this is because I have lost about 65 miles per tank with the tune on mostly city driving...Dont get me wrong....I like the tune....it just going from 310-315 miles per tank to now around 250. Oddley enough I get the best gas milage I have ever received with the tune when traveling out of town.
I almost forgot....after returning to the stock tune my a/c stopped working for about 2 minutes, then I opened the window and bingo it started to work...no problems this moring with the a/c and it was working fine just before returning to stock, is there any connection here?
Mike
You just had to let all the fatulence out, that's all.
Mike, you say you lose about 65 mile per tank with the tune, yet in the next sentence you say you have never got bettter gas mileage than with the tune. Clarify.
Pat, your tank buddy.

He meant that his mileage has been worse then 250 miles to a tank full with the tune. 250 being the best yet.
Sounds like your tune is a little off. With all my mods and tuning Im still able to squeak out a little over 300 miles to a tank if I do a bit of highway driving. Around the city, I can pull a bit better then 265.
I have 4.10s and the T/C which my tune is set-up for so I have no choice.

Even though I dont care about the gas mileage, I get about 265 to 275 around town kicking RicerBoy butt every chance I get....

Come on fellows, we been through this before. What happen to MPG? Hey, MPG, some really specific numbers would help. I get 18+ MPG with a very strong foot on the gas with a 400+ HP engine. It may not be the tune, but your foot on the great increased power and the fun of driving a better car.

Just got a tune and 4:10's installed. Highway mileage drop was mininal (less than 2 mpg). On the other hand, mileage around town is averaging about the same as yours.....for basically the same reasons. Can't seem to keep my foot out of it!

Gotta second what Glenn said. You gotta be careful when using miles per tank. Only way to really figure it is by dividing miles travelled by fuel put back in the tank, and to do it more than once.
These cars have a problem with the fuel level sending unit that allows that guage to drop faster than the the fuel level is actually dropping. There's a TSB on it somewhere.

Ok, here it goes.....I was filling up about 16.8 on average and geting any where between 310-320 miles per tank, before the tune....if my math is done correctly than thats 18.45 miles per gallon.
I have gone thru about 14 tanks of gas with the tune in and two trips, one to Katy and Lufkin and back to San Antonio and another to Corpus and back to San Antonio.
Driving around the city from a full tank to empty I added on my last stop at the gas station 17.04 gallons of gas and got 253 miles out of that tank and I come to about 14.8 MPG. Now to me that is a drop off of about 4.4 mpg.

why don't you just get an 87 tune for everyday driving then use the 93 for 'special' occasions.
that was what i was going to do, but i have since decided to use the 87 for winter driving and the 93 for all other times of the year.

:bigcry: Cry all you want a buddy of mine has a Subarou WRX. I have a Vortech , 410 gears, PI 3000 stall & a whole lot more HP & Tourque & he doesn't get any better mileage in town than I do. Remember if you wanna play ya gotta pay. On the highway I have lost 4 MPG but I will never give up what I have. A friend of mine bought a Shelby GT 500, this spring I am sure to run into him coming back from the golf course.... he had better be ready.. he might take me off the line but might be in for a big surprise after we launch. This Reinhart tuned baby has teeth. BRING IT ON !!! Best Wishes to all my Marauder Friends !!! Kennyrauder.

compression on the MM engine is a little high for 87 me thinks :depress:

Miles per tankfull is subject to several variables.
I suggest you go back and try miles per gallon w/ the tune.
If you are concerned about MPG there are numerous other transportation choices that have a much lower cost.

15 MPG!! I got 19-20 MPG consistently N/A with a heavy foot and 4:10 gears and an aggressive SCT tune with a 3000 PI TC, headers, CAI, etc. If you what better gas mileage I would suggest you go with a SC. You will get better then 15 MPG.

20 MPG w/ annual miles of 10,000 @2.50 per gallon =$1,250
16 MPG annual miles 10,000 @2.50 per gallon =1,562
Save $312 per year by going w/out a tune?
I don't think a tune causes a loss of 4 MPG. The ones I have had have not.
