I have looked into this a lot. Problem we have, none will fit over our brake calibers and rotors. Maybe someone out there has an answer/solution. Now with 16" wheels there are slocks available in 28" OD

Dennis--(DR ) used , I believed , 17 " MT on CV rims----seems to work wonders......thought you all knew that--it was showed at MVIV when he ran the best at Gainesville.......Could I be wrong????.-----

FWIW--( aka -for what its worth) --I am waiting for the 10" MT's---later in the year--like fall /winter before they are available--to put on my 10"s----then we will play --and have some real good fun--...but by then you all will have played out so much--it will be llttle left---hope so anyway...........

I thought that on the rear you could fit 15" wheels. It was that the front brakes were larger diamater, but the rears were the same.
Let me know if I am wrong.

Are those 16" wheels? How about tire size? Is it 28" tall tire..Don't want to have to mess with my shift schedule. And finally, have you used them yet, 60 foot time? Sorry for all the questions Merc, this tire/wheel thing has been extremely frustrating. The Nitto DR's with my set-up is not doing it.

Tom, they are 16" 2001 Mustang wheels. I fwd the pm from Merc w/ all the specs.

I have the wheels and will be getting the M/Ts soon.

Merc are you running low enough presures that you felt the need to screw the tires?

The tires are 28x11.5x16 setting on mustang 16x7.5 wheels with a 30mm offset. Yes I used the tires last year without tubes and got my best 60 foot times (1.669 with 9.5 pounds of boost). They also fit stacked in the trunk with no problems. This is the perfect setup for a drag racing marauder, just make sure you have the right reinforcement in the rear.

If you are dragracing, leaving hard and have good traction, you better be screwing the slicks to the rim.

It is not a pretty picture when the slick sticks to the track, and the wheel keeps going. That = you are done for the day....

I was running the tires tubeless last year. I wanted better side wall strength with our heavy car and added the M/T Tube. NHRA rules requires that all tube tires be screwed in when running 9.99 and below. For safety reasons I don't want to have the tire shift and the tube split so I used 16 screws to hold everything in place per wheel. Also you need to modify the tube inlet by drilling out the hole were the tube mounts.

Mounted on Sherman's DTR last year without screws.

Thanks for the info Merc. I have a Detroit True Trac with Moser 31 spline axles. Awesome 60 foot. Just wondering how they will do with 18 lbs of boost.:depress: I was looking at the M & H Racemaster Drag Radial, 325 X 45 X 17 tire for my application. I have a set of 17 X 9 Mustang rims. Have not made a decsion on what to do.

I have that info Billy as well. Thanks. This stuff is driving me crazy.:mad2: But in order to hit the 10's I need serious traction.

Thanks, my best 60 foot is 1.69 on Nitto DR.

I will be running tubes in the MT. I have not decided on wether to screw them in.

I am going to try running them w/ higher pressures due to a stock rearend.

We will see what happens.

Purchase the largest set of custom wheels then couple them with big natural rubber tires. Also 31 spline axles have thier limits, ask Martyo. He destroyed his axles at SSHS6 in Atlanta last year. If I am not mistaken he was running Centerline wheels with a 4.5 backspace on Willwood rear brakes. Mickey Thompson Drag Radials applied the grip. Good thing he had C-clip eliminators.

I run 16s with Hoosier Quick Time Pros, 28x11.5s. Can be seen in the pic below, you'd just need a different offset rim for the 03-up chassis than what I have.

Also, definitely go with the QTPs, they kick ass over the MTs.

I would love to see your setup one day. Do you ever make it to Maryland International Raceway ?
