Funds are tight right now. I'll try.
I was going to make them myself from some chrome/moly tubing I have in the shop but have been too fat & lazy to measure the stock ones up!
If I can swing the payments it would be a lot better to buy something I know will fit and work the first time rather than fit a set up myself.

I debated this upgarde for quite some time, and finally took the plunge last summer.

The difference these arms make on how the car reacts in the twisties is spectacular.

For you burnout guys,...These will hold the rear end where it needs to be without flexing around like the OEM's. :burnout:
Making the car less likely to go sideways when the loud pedal is against the carpet.

These CA's, along with Addco bars is even better.

The install is pretty straight forward, as shown here ->

Best money I have spent on an upgarde. No doubt about it.

20 Sets: $430 Shipped

Steel went up and Ive decided to make less on them his time for the benefit of the club.

As always, they will be shipped in Gloss Black Powdercoat and retain the stock dimensions.
An adjustment of 3% for paypallers will have to be included this time, sorry.

Orders going to Canada will have additional fees for BS.

Lets get at least 10 confirmed interested and Ill start a running tally once that happens.

Hi all,
Z & M Control arms if they are the same as the last time around RE-USE the OEM bushings.
If I could install 2 more sets, I'd do it in a heartbeat!!!! As I posted almost 3 years ago, I like my rear ends firm (No flames and No nasty comments needed!!!) and Both my MMs have the Z&M control arms plus the larger Addco Rear sway bars! I take these cars for granted because we drive them EVERY day and we switch out of each one with ease.
My advice, Get 'Em while you can! Best mod you can do!

Zack,
Count me in. Question: a lot of talk about the control arms helping in tight turns and keeping your rear end straight on launching. There is a bump in a turn on a road I travel that causes the rear end to kick over what feels like a couple of inches. Will the control arms keep the rear on the ground? Or should I be looking elsewhere for the solution?

Guys and Gals,

I just had Mac & Zack's Upper and lower control arms installed. Prior to installation I put the car on a drive on lift and measured the at rest pinion angle of my car. It was -2.22 degrees, after the the control arms were installed and the car driven from Ill., to Pa., the pinion angle was -1.28 degrees when measured at rest on the same drive on lift.

Now for the fun part, the car tracks perfectly nuetral, body roll and over-steer are gone. A tremendous improvement and within specifications. What could be better?

Gary

I think Zack said stock dimensions, but a 1/8" longer lower arm would actually improve pinion angle. see quote.

The solution is called "Independent Rear Suspension" :)

Seriously, all solid axle cars & trucks I've ever driven have done that... it's just the way it is. I kinda like it.

And for all of you that are on the fence, BUY THESE NOW! You will NOT regret it. Excellent upgrade, makes the a$$ end feel a lot better.

Sorry guys...I was just being a wisea$$.

(Sarcastic comment in regards to the old flame wars on pinion angle changes.)

I know that the control arms are awesome, they are built like a tank.

I bought a set wayyy back when...I just ended up going for the 'bling' with a Metco purchase.

I got the Metco's. Seriously, would the Z&M arms be an upgrade?

No. They both fix the same problem, but they just go about it differently.

The Z&M's reuse the stock bushings, and the Metco's use a stiffer polysomething bushing. It just makes for a VERY slight ride difference.

The car will not jump around on the road with these control arms. It will feel like you are glued to it.

Fair enough.
Our control arms are a niche item and quite honestly cant be produced as cheap as Metco's.

Customers who buy our control arms know they are getting the best and many have held out in anticipation of this offering.

Zack, count me in.

You cant buy just bushings. You have to buy new control arms which equate to $200 or better.

Stock bushings arent worn out at the mileage the majority of us have.

I swapped 80k bushings into a new set of Z&M arms with no issues.

I went with these arms so that I could have rubber bushings rather than poly. My time with Mustangs left me wanting a quieter, less jarring ride. I used to hate the way poly bushings would transmit road noise into the cabin. They'd also need to be greased every so often.

These arms upgrade and strengthen the important points, but retain the fluidity of the stock suspension.

These arms provide so much coverage over the rubber bushing, that it really doesn't have any where to flex. It keeps those soft rubbers in place and provides characteristics similar to poly bushings, but without the harshness.

fastblackmerc
03-27-2007, 10:12 AM
I've had Metco's for 3 years, can't detect any added harshess or extra road noise. I do grease them twice a year. Gives me a reason to cleanup underneath too. :D

Latest update:
The arms are being welded now. He is going to weld up all 20 before powdercoating instead of the 11 that are spoken for so the cost stays down.
he said he will be dropping the arms off for powdercoating by Tuesday and expects a 2 day turnaround.
The final step is to run a hone through the ends to clean up the weld discoloring and any stray powdercoat.
ill start building the boxes and printing the FedEx labels.

UPS rules at least here in MD, especially when ordering tires from tirerack. 1 day ground shipping and I go from ordering to smelling rubber in less than 24 hrs lol.

That's it. It's all over. I'm ruined. Zack installed the control arms on BLUE last night, OMFG. What a difference. :banana2: .........So then I go to work last night, in the squad car, first traffic stop this morning I actually walk around and check all 4 tires thinking something's wrong with my squad with the stock control arms. Squishy, shifty ass end. :banghead: 2nd stop, I was looking under the car for problems. GAWD I wish I could put the Z&M control arms on my squad.:bows:

Then you should have no problems installing these.

Metcos are nice bling, I have a set too, from the very first release of them because I didn't get in on the first Z&M buy, and the second and third buy didn't work out. This buy did.

Why mess up this sale thread talking about Metcos?

Thanks Zack excellant install, Oh Yeah I have a real Autometer oil gauge that really works Very Nice !! The whole job took about two hours with time outs for coffee.
