Hey all,
I have a new set of Nitto DR's 305/45/18 and need to pick up a set of track only wheels to mount them on. I have tried the local wheel store a few times to no avail. All I want are some chrome wheels that look fairly similar to the stock rims (5 star design). I bought some 18x10 chrome cobra replicas and the backspacing was way off. I mounted them up and they were sticking out about two inches. I think they would have crushed my rear quarterpanel if I tried to run them. At this point, I just want some wheels that will work. I don't have any desire to track down some used marauder wheels and ship them off to be widened. Thanks for any help

This is a tall order.

Use this worksheet to compute your fitment.

http://www.magindat.net/ssm/info/wheelstires.xls

You basically need a 60mm offset. Too high and you'll be IN too far. Too low and you'll be OUT too far (as you already know!)

If you are looking, you need a 5 x 4.5 bolt pattern which is the same as 5 x 114.3 with a 60mm offset on a 10 inch width.

I'll do some looking.

....Or, you can just let them stick out :D

They ARE just for Track Use...

Use the 18x10 deep dish from a 06-07 Mustang fitment. That's what a few members are doing.

The issue may be that he lowered the rear air. Those WILL work, Rich, but he'd have to raise the rear end if it's lowered or he would rub on the squat.

There are 2 members here (John Nero & Marauderman) who use that combo and had no problems running the 1/4 mile with them.

With all the effort to find wheels to fit, you might as well send a set of OEMs off to be widend.

Problem solved. I found some OEM spec knock offs for $400 shipped and had them sent to weldcraft for widening. Thanks for the help

If they were on eBay they are cheap Chinese cast wheels. You might want to reconsider going the cheap route on something critical like wheels.

Yes, perhaps widen the stockers and keep the new ones for daily use?

The knock off wheels are cast, polished but not clear coated, and are JUNK. I would not use these wheels even for stock use.

Cast Wheels CANNOT be widened per WeldCraft. I called them and asked.

I was about to say----and you did for me---but --it was Glenn , from Atlanta who got me the data on doing it---he got his first I believe---any way--they really look great for the track-----kinda looks like its saying "I'm gonna kick-it--watch out"-----so yes-this combo works very well----------

now waiting for some M/T's for these 10 beauties---------then we'll see what will happen..............

Try Mustang Deep Dish Bullitt wheels - 18x10. Stick out about 3/4". Try and get blemished wheels. Cost me $90 each including shipping. Work great with 305 x 18 DRs Nittos.

I called them yesterday too and whoever I talked to said as long as the material was the same as stock rims, they could...i'll be a$$ out 400 dollars if they can't because I already bought the replicas and they're getting shipped to weldcraft

Keep in mind you are taking a hweel of questinable quality and having it widened to race it?

You prob also have no insurance while racing. How much are you going to save?

I sold a set of OEM wheels w/ Nittos 80% tread life incl shipping for under $700.

The replica wheels ARE NOT the same material as stock.

OK, you all convinced me. I'm gonna run the replicas temporarily while I get my stockers widened and then run Nitto's year round like I used to on my mustang

Thanks
