I have the mercury marauder stick-on emblems that I purchased here.

The enamel paint simply did not last (cracked away) and now I need to get them off the car.

What is the best way to remove these with damage to the paint?

Please tell me you mean WITH OUT dammage to the paint.

The body shop removed mine but they still scratched the paint....

If they are 3m vynal. I use a blow dryer to heat them up so the tape is soft then I use some fishing line and work it back and forth like a saw. Usually works pretty well. Then the rest is easy to get off with your finget. I guess it all depends on you emblems. Hope I could help.

Go to a body supply shop and ask for decal/adhesive remover. It will soften the adhesive without hurting the paint. Use masking tape to tape up the body moulding cause it will soften the adhesive for that too. Then use a soft rag and twist them off. Then use a little more remover to clean up the paint. Then finish up with a microfiber towel and some 3M swirl and haze remover. I hope your not going to toss them. Those are a commodity here.

I would agree use a blowdryer or a heat gun.

I would use the adhesive remover and fishing line / dental floss. All good suggestions.

Mine have faded periodically, but using flitz or simichrome polish seems to bring them back nicely.

I managed to do something right for once, and using a template I made got them attached perfectly.

The tape that (Marty?) used on these is excellent. I wish the adhesive tape that was used on the MM door sills had been half as good. I think one sill lasted a month, the others about 3 days, and I had to end up using JB Weld, (dumb) and then 2 ton epoxy to get them to stay on, damaging one in the process.

Just to be sure I snagged an extra set and an extra chrome S55 emblem in case someone ever tries to pry them off the car. Cheap insurance.

A flat-blade shovel should get up under the emblem. Use a crowbar to pry up and them remove any leftover adhesive with 60-grit grinding wheel and a die grinder. Leftover debris will wipe right off with a gallon of Acetone and some greasy shop rags.

These emblems were purchased here.

The paint on them has flaked away....they can't be more that 1.5 years old.

I do plan to toss them unles someone has a thought on how to fix them.

It may be posible to restore them - post some pics after you get them off.
Restoring on the car might be difficult but could be done - pictures would tell one way or the other.

That sucks. I would be disappointed as well. Like I said, mine appear oxidized every few months, but the flitz brings them back. I'm going to have to eyeball mine carefully for any cracks in the paint.
