I'll be buying new rubber when i get back from deployment and was looking at some Nitto nt555's. I used to run them on my mustang and really liked them. Is that too wide of a tire to run up front. thanks

No problems, and I even run them with cut coils. I just put 1100 miles on mine this weekend and the NT555s performed flawlessly. Nice and quiet and handled the deluge of rain I ran into in Iowa just fine. Great tire!

What size do you plan on running on the rear? Or are you going with the
255'sx 45's all around?

I definitely won't run the same size tire, probably a 295 on widened rims

I have been thinking of replacing my tires with that same size 255/45 on the front when my oem ones needs to be replaced. I'm running 255/55 kdw2 in the rear now and would match up with 255/45 kdw2 on the front.

Why would you run 255/45 on the front? It would still be two different sizes (front and back) and the the KDW2 is available in stock size 235/50.

My bigger question would be, why such wide tires when the stock suspension is far more limited than the tires? The car rolls like a ship before the tires give up.

My bigger question would be, why such wide tires when the stock suspension is far more limited than the tires? The car rolls like a ship before the tires give up.Because some do not have a fully stock suspension. ie: QA-1 shocks, Metco/Z&M control arms, Addco sway bars(fr & rr), watts links, Eibach/cut coils. :dunno:
I thought about using Toyo Proxes S/T's 255/45 & 255/55 but decided to go with Falken ZIEX ST/Z-01 235/50 & 255/55 . Both are a W rated tire has a slightly higher load rating. Rears arrive tomorrow, fronts a little later. Details on how they handle later in the summer.

LOL nothing wrong with cosmetic appeal, as long as you are honest with what you are expecting you are good.

Also with the bigger "road patch" lock up braking has got to be improved.
One thing I notice with the 235/50's is they tend to slide very easly. especially on wet or even slightly wet streets.
The 295/45's (555) on the rear is an excellent set up and they look good.

I run NT555 255/45 front. I have done track events and rain driving. So far they have about 35K on them and are wearing perfectly.

Exactly, more contact surface touching the road. I haven't upgraded my suspension yet but that is something I will tackle this year plus the cosmetic appeal of the size of the tires will please me.

 First off hurry home soon safe and sound. We are all proud of you. I replaced the original equipment junk with the KDW2s front and rear. That's 235 up front and 255 rear and I really like the set up. In fact, I have 25 K on the tires and they wear fabulous. Still have a ton of tread on them. I really like the "raked" look with the rear end higher. (That's a 50s term for you young guys). The KDW2s are like driving with duck tape on the tires. Really grip great, better than the original treads. They are a little noisier than the original because of the cross cut of the tread. Met a bunch of club members last Saturday at the Hooters in Bensalem, Pa. and they were all great. One of them remarked he ran 245s all the way around and really liked it.

I went larger because I only was able to get 15 k out of the first oems, and the larger rear, and larger fronts provide more grip on the road. I just replaced one set after 30+ k of spirited driving.

I'm on my second set of ST's. I love them. Auto-X, road racing, drag racing. I put my car through hell. They lasted 20k.

Im running bfg kdw2 255/55/18 on mine and the only tme i get any rubbing is during an extreme left or right turn, and its only slight. There is no wear on the tire or inner fender from it. 99% of the time its rub free.
Plus those tires are great over pothole and bumps. Just some people dont like the bubbly look, i dont mind it.

I've found the Nitto's to be sized 'smaller' than most other tire brands... ie: a 255/45/x Nitto will have slightly more clearence than say a Goodyear 255/45/x...

Peter, let me say stay safe and hurry home. Thank you for your service to our country. God Bless you.
I think you'll be pleased with your choice of both tires and sizes. That's what I run along with the QA-1's and they handle just fine. So far no problems. And I don't expect any.

Can you give me an idea of the cost for the tires you now have and dealer location?

Too bad www.tirerack.com doesn't carry Nittos, but I've bought a of sets of Nittos from www.discounttiredirect.com. Good prices, free shipping, I take them to the dealership for mounting and balancing so the wheels don't get scratched up. Has worked out great.

No-I run them up front --no problem--have 14K on them--can't tell--I use the 295's on back---go for it--Tom

Im running the 255's up front of the nt555's and the 295's out back and it just looks soo sweet! I like having the same tires front to back. They ride great and I have no suspension mods yet. Going for Control arms soon for a little more "tightness" I dont know how to post pics but bear with me!
