I would question whether nitrogen in tires on a street car gives any measurable benefit.

There are several web sites regarding the use of nitrogen in tires. Some of the benefits are less tire pressure fluctuation as the tire heats up and cools down. NASCAR uses nitrogen in their tires for this reason. The nitrogen molecule is larger that the oxygen molecule, so you get less leakage which means your tires stay at a more consistent pressure which means greater life and better fuel economy. Nitrogen contains less water vapor than compressed air, so that means less corrosion of you wheels. The company I work for has a nitrogen generator so I can fill my tires for free. I don't put that many miles on my car and the rears wear out within 1 year, so I can't really tell if it works for me. If it's free, why not use it.

Nitrogen is an inert gas so it will not attack the rubber on the inside of the tire.
Using AIR introduces Oxygen and other elements that oxidize the inside of the tire.

The other benefit is that Nitrogen does not change pressures much
at different temperatures.


You can get NITROGEN put in yout tires at COSTCO.

Costco has been installing Nitrogen on all tires they mount.
Nitrogen is not effected by changes in the climate.
